NCC August New Release

Good morning!
Today we are having a blog hop to show off the new August release stamps AND dies from North Coast Creations!!
This first card I did as a thank you to the mom of the house! It is from her hubby and two boys (or you could use the girl).  I used some old tree paper I had in my stash for today's cards.  I used a piece of fibrous sheet for one of the elements, ribbon (with a knot instead of a bow since this is from "the guys") and the Pennant Row die from Our Daily Bread Designs on the border.
I used the inside of the window that I cut out of my second card to be the background for the owls on this card!  Waste not, right?
NCC stamps used: Who Loves You?
NCC dies used:Owl Family
I did this card in two versions. This second version is using some bark paper that I happen to have.  I did some stitching on it too!

Be sure to check out the other member's cards and blogs

DRS Challenge #189-Feeling Sentimental

Good morning!
I know, I love the plaid, huh? Well, maybe it has something to do with being Scotch/Irish on my mother's side!! Heehee!
This time I've done a traditional Christmas plaid (as close as I could). I used Woven Plaid 613P, and the beautiful new sentiment, Season's Greetings Holly Spray 487L.  I colored my project with Copic Markers and added Stickles to the Holly and Pine then Crystal Effects to the berries.
I cut my window out of both the red and the plaid with a Spellbinders Oval die set.
The only other thing I needed (for me anyway) was a nice big bow to top it off!
I hope you have been enjoying these early Christmas cards and I hope it gets you motivated to start in (you know how many you need?).  For more inspiration please visit our DRS Designs blog where you will find the other designer's cards and also the place to link your own creation for this week's challenge!
Have a great week and thanks for visiting!
I would love to hear what you think of this card, please comment below.

ODBDSLC252-Anything Goes With Scripture

Good morning!
This week's challenge is an easy one!! Anything goes with Scripture!
ODBD stamps used: Good Man, Flourish Label Borders
ODBD dies used: Flourished Star Pattern, Vintage Labels, Vintage Flourish Pattern, Boho Background.
I've used a lot of dies on this one but sometimes when I do elegant looking cards, it is needed.  I love how these all work together to create a card I could give to any of my friends for almost any occasion.  This verse is a promise that I hold dear in my heart. God knows us by name!  He loves us and has a plan for us!
The new Boho Background die goes wonderfully with all the other ODBD label dies.    I used one of the Flourish Label Border stamps for added interest on the large ivory die cut panel (it has little dots all the way around it).  To finish my card I used two strips of lace and some gold metallic ribbon.
Thank you all for visiting!!

The verse on this card is special to me.  It is a promise to me from God.  But not just for me, this promise is to all who will allow God to lead their lives.  He has a plan for us but He doesn't force His will on us.  He has given us free will and a lot of people lead their own lives, do their own thing. The thing is, we can only see this moment in time (and the past) but we do not know what will happen in the next moment.  We can make our plans for tomorrow but tomorrow is not guaranteed to us.  Why not let God (who knows every hair on our head, knows all the days accounted for us Psalm 139 & Luke 12:7) lead your life.  Believe me, His plans are good and He loves us with never ending love, He gives good gifts to His children. We walk in the dark, not knowing what will come.  He has the flash light, He shines the light and leads, all we have to do is follow.

House Mouse-Flower Power

Good afternoon dear peeps!
I am entering this House Mouse design in the challenge at HMFMC Here .
This stamp is from Stamendous.  They manufacture the House Mouse designs currently.
I did this card for a sketch challenge on Splitcoaststampers a couple days ago and was told about the challenge at the House Mouse Blog by America.  We design together for Our Daily Bread Designs.
I colored my image using Copic Markers and looking at a photo of a real hummingbird for color inspiration. My little mouse is doing his part to help out his friend!

DRS Challenge #188-Color Challenge

Good morning!
Today's challenge is color (see photo below my card).

I stamped and colored with Copic Markers in today's colors then added some Glossy Accents to the berries. I Die cut and then die cut a mirror red metallic paper for the frame..  I used a 4 X 5 1/4 white panel to emboss holly leaves (Cuttlebug) and then mounted all to a white folded card then added a red bow.  That is it this time.
Very simple card to make yet still looks elegant and I think any friend would love to receive it in the mail.
I hope you like this idea.  For more inspiration please click here. You can also find all the information you need to join in the challenge.  There is a prize given each week!
Well, kids are back to school here this week and I'm sighing in relief! LOL! My grandson, Jordan, who we are raising, is a Senior in high school this year!  Yippee!
Thanks for stopping by!

ODBDSLC251-Inspiration Challenge

Good morning!
Today starts a new challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.
It's our inspiration challenge (see photo below my card).

I've used other colors in my card but I think I have the feeling of inspiration piece, in MY head anyway!  I have the paisley rising up into the main body of the card kind of like the tail rising up to the body of the peacock.  With the bright bluish purple spot/flowers(?) on the inspiration piece being my bow at the top right.
Today I have used an old technique called Joseph's coat.  I sponged various colors on my cardstock and then heat embossed the Boho Paisley background with VersaMark and Pearl Lavender which is basically clear with a tinge of lavender color.  I then inked the whole panel with black Versafine, rubbing it in well until everything (especially the in between places) looked very black.  After this I  took a rag and wiped the card off, leaving behind the embossed pattern with the color protected underneath.  I absolutely love the new Faith, Hope and Love dies from ODBD so I made three layers of "Love" (Christ great love for us) and added it to the bottom right.  I stamped the cross (using my Misti) several times to make sure it was VERY black and then colored it in (using Copic markers) with colors to match my background.  The two ovals are new from ODBD, one being "stitched" and the black elegant oval under both is a classic design from ODBD.  I've used a triangle layout for today's card.  I almost forgot, I stamped one of the extra flowers from the Boho Love set to pop up a layer on my cross right in the middle.  It is the same design just a tad smaller so that it more easily shows as a second layer.

Unconditional love
Luke 15: 11-32 Is the parable of the Prodigal Son that Jesus told to convey the message to the hearers (and readers) of God's unconditional love.  The Father excepts his son back with warmth and love even though the son spent his inheritance on "worldly" pleasures and then after his money was spent, he was cast down into the slim of eating pigs food because he had nothing left.  When he decided to go to his father and ask to become a servant, the father was so overjoyed to see his son back home that he threw a party for him.  Jesus was telling the people that when you come to Father God in repentance, He welcomes you with open arms and all of heaven rejoices with a party!
Do you think that God can't forgive you?  Think again!  He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay the penalty for US.  We were ALL sinners against God, He loves us so much that He was willing to leave all the glories of heaven and live as a human with people hating Him and plotting to kill Him and then finally they did kill Him; but it was all part of the plan, 3 days later He rose from the grave alive.  He does not want any to perish (eternal death) but wants ALL to come to a believing faith in Jesus. Romans 10:9 "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved".
Have a blessed week!

DRS Challenge #187-You Left Me Hanging

Good morning!
Today's challenge is something hanging!
Well, let me tell ya, on my Christmas tree I like different, shiny and bright colors because the tree is dark green!  I use mostly red, white, clear and then all other bright colors that show up well on green.  So, I've colored my ornaments in colors that are easily seen and reflect all the twinkling lights.
I've used some metallic mirror type paper in green and red to frame as well as a pretty die cut from Spellbinders.  It is hard to see but my word Christmas has a red from dark (at the bottom) to bright red at the top.

ODBDSLC250-Sketch Challenge

Good morning!

ODBD stamps used: Boho Blessing, Bugs and Butterfly

Well, my words are my tag/pennants in this case but other than that I pretty much followed the sketch.  I used the Boho background die to embossed the green layer under the sentiment and then again to die cut the horizontal layer.

Have you ever prayed for someone or something and not seen the answer right away?  Of course, we all have but, that does not mean that God is not at work according to your prayer. Thank Him today for what you prayed for yesterday (or even today) and believe that things are already working out according to God's plan. Yes, God's plan...are you praying according to His will?  What, you don't think you know His will? You do if you read His word because God will never do anything against His written word.
Other times you may be praying about who you should marry or something where the specific answer is not apparent...do this, put your intended's name into the I Cor. 13:4-7 Like this: (We will just say the name is Andy, that's my husband's name) Andy suffers long and is kind; Andy does not envy; Andy does not parade himself, he is not puffed up; Andy does not behave rudely, he does not seek his own way, he is not provoked, and he thinks no evil; he does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Andy bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Hmmm, well something to think about.  Are you willing to wait for God's best or do you just want your own way?  Remember, He knows your future, He has a plan for you...don't settle for second best, wait on HIM.  And thank Him for the blessings already on their way!

Underwater World

Good morning!
This is my first card using Make it Crafty ocean bottom digi and a Penny Black Mermaid.  Taylored Expression stitched frame die, Memory Box shells and seahorse die, fibers, and real shells in the corner.  I colored my ocean bottom with Copics and then cut it out.  My mermaid was stamped, colored with Copics then cut out as well.  The frame is popped up with foam tape and I added eyelash fibers to the outside edges (except the top) before attaching the frame.  I had to trim some of them...they were really long.  The mermaid's tail has Stickles on it.  The bubbles is an old stamp from Hero Arts.  They were stamped after coloring the background with Dylusions ink, water and Color Burst.  Then I added a bit of highlight to the bubbles with white pen.
This is a 4 panel accordion card made with the accodion die from Karen Buriston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I did not attach the ovals in this case so that it would photograph better.  The ocean floor is 4 different digi's from Make It Crafty and the images are all 4 from Make It Crafty as well.  I used a publishing program on my computer to make them the right size and right placement for printing so that they could be cut out with the rectangle die set.  The ocean floor is colored with Copic Markers and the images as well.  The top portion of the card is a combo of Twinkling H2Os, Copics and Distress inks.  I really had to work at it to make them all blend with my colored images.  I thought I had ruined it at one point but just kept working at it!! When finished and dry, I added cheesecloth and real shells to the top.  I have to say that I really like this piece.
I did both for my challenge on Splitcoaststampers Dare To Get Dirty challenge week.  You can find the challenge here and the info for becoming a Fan Club member here.

DRS Challenge #186-Hot Trends-I Can Feel It

Good morning!
Ok, you feeling it?  This week's challenge is to add texture by embossing on your card.
DRS stamps used: All new release stamps: Simple Christmas Ornament 491K, Baby Jesus Heart 494G, Jesus Is The Heart Of Christmas 496F
I also used two different embossing folders on this card, a pine bough die from Elizabeth Craft Designs, and a shaped die from Susan Wilson.
I stamped colored and die cut my image and sentiment then embossed it using an embossing defuser with the circle cut out so that my ornament did not emboss. Fun huh? It was my first time to try that with one that I bought...I made my own one time but that takes a lot of layers of cardboard die cuts.

ODBDSLC249-Color Challenge

Good morning!
Today starts a new challenge at ODBD and I have two cards for you today!
This new release is somewhat a Bohemian collection called Boho designs.

Turquoise, orange and hot pink are my chosen colors for this week!
ODBD stamps used: Boho Blessings
ODBD paper used: Beautiful Boho Paper

ODBD stamps used: Boho Blessing
These are the new release for August and boy are they beautiful!  I used the butterfly from Boho Blessing on both cards and colored each with Copics in some of this week's colors. I followed older ODBD sketches for both cards and used the new ovals and stitched ovals on the first card along with one of the new word dies (it comes with Faith Hope and Love, all beautiful). I also used the Layered Lacey Squares on the first card and the beautiful borders along with the Boho Background die on the second card. However, I used the die to emboss instead of cut.

When I see a butterfly I see hope.  The caterpillar has the hope (and faith) that once he wraps himself up into a cocoon he will emerge a beautiful butterfly able to fly about and suck nectar from all the lovely flowers.  I've taken some photos of butterflies sucking up nectar, it take a lot of patience to move very slowly and sometimes follow the butterfly over and over before getting a shot.  It also takes a good Macro lens.  Why do I tell you that, because growing in faith, growing in spiritual maturity takes patience and the right tools, namely, God's written word, the Bible, and taking time to be with Him in prayer and meditating on His word.
Romans 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God"...Romans 10: 17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". Hebrews 11 is called the faith chapter and 11:1 says "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". Then it goes on to speak of great men of faith in the Bible.  but verse 6 of chapter 11 is even more important to those who are desiring to grow in their spiritual walk, it says "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him".  Just a thought for today, grow in faith!
