ODBDSLC256- Create Your Own Inked or Embossed Background

Good morning!
Time for a new fun challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.
Make your own background inked or embossed.
My card is both inked and embossed.

ODBD stamps:God Verses, Blossom
My background is done by using an inked brayer on one side of an embossing folder (LifeStyle-Rose Pattern).  I used vellum to print my God Verse so that the background can still be seen underneath. I cut it with the Stitched Oval die then I made an oval frame to go around it by using Stitched Oval die and the larger regular Oval die.  My top piece is the new release Leafy Edge Border die...pretty huh? It comes with three edges.  The image is the rose bud from the Blossom stamp set.  I stamped, colored and cut out 3 times.  The pink and green leaves were purchased as well as the pink and white braid at the top.  The bow is 1 1/2" sheer pink.

Please do not post on Flicker as many of us do not have the ability to comment on your cards nor can we spotlight your cards on the blog.

The scripture on my card today is Matthew 6:33.  In it we find that if we spend our time concentrating on the things of God and promoting God's kingdom, we don't have to worry about the common needs of life, God will take care of us as he does the birds and animals and clothe us like the beautiful flowers...He is seeking followers, those who put Him and His purposes about their own agenda.
Study His word and seek Him out, He will be found by you!

Thanks for visiting!

September Mid Month Reminder

Good morning!
This is a reminder of all the great stamps and dies released mid month September...enjoy!
New release Pretty Posies die from ODBD were used to make my pine cones on this card.  I cut the medium and small size out of brown twice and sponged on some darker brow ink around the edges then cut them into sections.  I used a forming tool (large stylist) to form the fronts and backs.  Glued the sections together moving downward as I did to create long cones.
Other products used on this card were ODBD paper- Blushing Rose; ODBD Peaceful Poinsettia die; ODBD Fancy Foliage; and ODBD Christmas Mini stamp set.  Miscellaneous products, Spellbinders A2 Basic matting (the frames), ribbon, candy dots (red berries) and Prills (flower centers). See the original pine cone tutorial here.

I used white mulberry paper to cut out 6 of each size for the posies. I dipped the ends in spray ink watered down and let them dry then scrunched them up at the centers and glued them together making 3 sizes of very full flowers.  I added some sheer white ribbon to the bottom of the flowers.  I made my window frame by cutting the same size as my window hole out of black then drawing around the die with pencil and cutting it out.  The border is a little different as I had to cut it from my black layer then cut the shape (die provided in set) from the white window layer, the under embossed layer (embossed with ODBD Boho background die) and then the raspberry and turquoise layers.  The bottom layer is an embossed layer (embossed with an embossing folder).

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs September Mid Month Release. For more inspiration using the September Mid Month Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.

DRS Challenge#193-Flying High

Good morning!
Today starts a new challenge at DRS Designs!  Make a card featuring something that flies.  Since we are in Halloween mode, I did flying things having to so with Halloween but you could use, butterflies, birds, rockets...anything that flies.
I have three flying things on my card: The ghost, the raven and the bat!

DRS Designs: Boo-tiful Halloween 960E, Small Bat and Moon 898C, Small Ghost 191C, Silhouette Graveyard 579H, RIP Tombstone 570B, The Raven 125G.
I stamped my scene and then masked the pieces and sponged some color on with dye inks.  My tombstone in front was colored and cut out since I wanted to place it after I got my frame made and everything arranged. The frame is cut from paper I had used Color Burst on for various colors of purple.  I don't do a lot of Halloween but I love Halloween colors especially now that it isn't just orange and black, (My high school colors if you can imagine)!!
I hope you will join in the challenge this week and be eligable to win a prize.  See the other designer's cards and how to enter your card HERE.
Thanks for stopping by!

ODBDSLC255- Inspiration Challenge

Good morning!
It's time for our inspiration challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.
I used the Deep Water stamp set today for my card, inspiration is the bottom right photo in the above sampler.

Yes, I thought of the Yellow Submarine but decided NOT to make it yellow!
This is sort of what I remember from the underwater ride at Disneyland from when I was a kid.  I used acetate behind the round windows and probably should not have since that AND my aluminum was hard to photograph.

ODBD stamps used: Deep Water
ODBD dies used: Hello
I also used aluminum tape, silver nailhead stickers, wood grain embossing folder, Acetate, Aluminum foil, metal working tool (roller type) and acrylic paint.  I stamped the image twice and cut out 3 different spots for my windows.
I covered cardstock with aluminum foil and cut out my holes slightly larger than what you see.  I then made circle frames for the windows (also cardstock covered in foil).  The inside of the frame is smaller than the hole that it goes around covering the edges. The foil is glued down with gluestick so that every square inch of stock is covered, that way nothing peels up.  I also covered my top and bottom edge with aluminum tape.  I then applied the nailhead stickers, used my roller metal tools for a bit of texture, and then painted over the entire panel with black acrylic paint and some teal (for patina).  I rubbed off most of it only leaving behind what is in crevices etc. I added acetate to the windows and then added the  images I had colored with Copic Markers. My background panel is made with a woodgrain embossing folder.

Please do not post on Flicker as many of us do not have the ability to comment on your cards nor can we spotlight your cards on the blog.

Did you know that when God forgives your sin He throws it into the deepest sea? (Micah 7:19)  They are as far from us as the East is from the West (Psalm 103:12)
Think about how far that is, not on a circle like our earth but in a straight line as in eternal time...they never meet.
God loves you so much!  So, if you have asked God to forgive your sins and you have turned away from sin and given your heart to Jesus because He is your Lord, then your sins are forgiven so stop beating yourself up over past wrongs.  If God has forgiven you, what are you doing not forgiving yourself?  I am speaking to myself as well as any others who read this post...I am still finding myself not forgiving myself for my past... until I think about God and His great mercy and His great sacrafice to make us holy in His eyes through Jesus His only Son.  How do I think I have the right to hold onto guilt.  Isaiah 43:25 " I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins."
He chooses to remember them NO MORE!  Thank You Lord!  Thank You for Your forgiveness!  He has brought me up out of a deep dark pit of sin into His wonderful light and to freedom in Him! I will forever bless the Lord, oh my soul!
Thank you for visiting today!

DRS Challenge #192-Color

Good morning!
Yes I know, I'm not a big Halloween person (except for the pretty colors involved),  but some of you are and you should really be liking these new stamps from DRS designs.
The whole month is Halloween stamps!

These are two new release stamps from DRS Designs.  The Shelf of poisons and the witches brew sentiment, release date is 9/19/15.

I've done them in today's challenge colors.  My frame was done by dipping my cardstock into a puddle of Color Burst on a sheet of Aluminum foil, let dry then die cut with Spellbinders A2 Basics.  My inside white panel was done using a web embossing folder. The orange panel was done in the same manner as the purple.  I used orange and yellow Color Burst and dipped my cardstock into a puddle of it.  I popped my frame up with foam tape and added some rhinestone spiders.

ODBDSLC254- Sketch Challenge

Good morning!
Time for our sketch challenge.
I've used one of my favorite verses for this card.  I know, I say that about every verse!! It's true, I love the word of God!

ODBD stamps used: Keep My Lamp Burning
There is a bit of an optical illusion going on with my card because the border is a curved border but I assure you, everything is straight except the bottom curve.  I was oringinaly going to turn this sketch around but I liked the border at the bottom better, it has a lacy look to it.
The flower was die cut, sponged with purple then formed front and back to give it more shape.  The leaf was also formed after sponging with Jade and Lime ink.  I used an embossing folder to create my background then placed a pearl on each cross section.  The doily was cut twice, once from the background to make a hole then again with the outer part of the doily, to make a frame.  On the inside I popped up the background panel and placed the purple and Boho background underneath.
I cut the Leafy Edge Border twice, once white and once purple and I used my stitched oval in 3 sizes to make the sentiment and framing. One the Leafy Edge Border I also added lace, ribbon and a row of pearls.
Please visit my design team sisters to see their beautiful samples:

God is my refuge!
Have you ever wondered why there is so much evil and bad stuff going on in the world, well, it is because God gave man (and women) free will.  Sometimes I wish He had not but I know that God wants us to come to Him of our own free will because that is what love looks like.  If we never had a choice we would be more like robots.  Yes, there would be no evil in the world, yes, there would be no disease but we would not be the humans He created to enjoy mutual love and fellowship with Him.   God allows the world to go it's own way because we chose to go our own way.   He does not like sin, diesease, disaster, that is not the world He created and wanted for us.
But the good news is that we are here for a very short time, then there is an eternity of joy, beauty, and love with Him in heaven.  He has provided the way through His Son, Jesus Christ.  Acknowledge that you are a sinner, ask God to forgive you and turn from your sin then ask Jesus to come into your heart and create in you a knew clean heart.  Believe in your heart that Jesus is the son of God, that He died for you and that God rose Him from the dead to live forever...that is God's free gift of eternal life for you. Romans 6: 23 and Romans 10:9. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me". John 14:6

ODBD September Mid Month New Release

Good Morning every one!  Today we get to show you another new release for September...that's right, September!!  Our Daily Bread Designs is working overtime to bring you new and exciting designs this month!!
We are calling this our Mid-Month Release and this is our Blog Hop to show it off to you!  I hope you have been enjoying all the beautiful cards you've seen along the way but if I am your first stop, make sure you visit the other designers to see everything new and all the fantastic designs!

This is my first card.  The first thing I thought of when I saw this set was the Wildflower the grows in our Sierra National Forest, the Crimson Columbine.  It is a beautiful red flower with a bright yellow center as you see here.  The stamen are also bright yellow but inside of each yellow petal (shaped like a cone) is a red spot going down deep to meet the red petals.

I used Lemon Yellow acrylic paint on a stylist for the Stamen on this card.
The Hummingbird was reversed by stamping it onto a piece of smooth rubber then using that image, stamped onto paper.  It works very well except ink is a little lighter because of the double stamping.

My next card is another version of the Columbine, found around here but not as common.  The petals are bluish lavender with whitish center petals
For this card I used the Grateful stamp set and the Doily and Lacey Layered Squares die sets.
For this card I used some Prills to make my stamen.  I used some Pearlescent Lavender Brilliance Ink to sponge color on this card.
I also used White satin 1" ribbon, embossing folders and foam tape to give it more texture.
My "extra card"

For this card I used the Grateful stamp set. Columbine are Crimson and the stamen is Lemon Yellow Liquid Pearls.  I used the Boho Background, Faith, Hope & Love, Leafy Edged Border, Vintage Flourish Pattern and Vintage Labels
Extras for this card are 3M foam tape, Embossing folder, 1" white satin ribbon and Liquid Pearls.

DRS Challenge #191 A Real Cutie

Good morning!
Time for another challenge at DRS.  This time just have a stamped image, die cut or punch of something really cute!
I have this die cut of a little fox from Cottage Cuts that I have used today.
I stamped, colored and masked my fall fence and then used Distress Inks and a sponge applicator to color my sky.  I added a bit of color to the moon with Copics to carry the "cloud" through.  I used a stitched frame die from Taylored Expressions and Stitched oval dies from Our Daily Bread Designs.  My leaf was fussy cut and edged with Copics to cover any white edges.  When I made the fox I used white, reddish tan and brown then used chalks to shade and or change up the color a bit.  I little white Sharpie was used for the highlights in his eyes.
I hope you will join the challenge at DRS Designs this week.  It will be fun to go through your things looking for just the right cutie!  To join and to see the other designer samples please click HERE.
Fall is finally arriving here in the mountains.  We still have hot days but our nights are turning very cool...I love it!  I love fall, it is my favorite season!
Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again!

ODBDSLC253-Color Challenge

Good morning!
Time for another challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.

Well, my color choices are the ones on the right, tan, coral, aqua and teal, all but brown.  You only need to pick 3 if you prefer.
ODBD stamps used: Deep Waters
This is a card made with the new September Release Deep Waters.  I just love this  underwater stamp along with the dolpin stamp that came out this month as well!
Coral reefs are so fun to color because they ARE so colorful.  There are several sentiments to go with this stamp set but I have always loved Dora's take on life, "Just Keep Swimming" (from the movie "Finding Nemo").  Beside the message of faith there is hope in those words too.  God has a plan for us, we just have to keep on "swimming" and He will lead us and bring us into it with His mighty hand!
I stated this card with some water color backgrounds (made with Color Burst and lots of water), I used one for the first layer (under the die cut) and the second one is a mat for my die cut image.  This image was stamped twice by stamping, masking and stamping again.  I wanted to extend my image a bit and this is a fun way to do it.  I used the Vintage Flourish Pattern die because it reminds me of coral.

Faith, Hope and Keep on swimming.
Some people out there in computer world may not have ever heard about Jesus and what He did for us.  Jesus the Christ, the Son of God left all of paradise with His Father God to live with us humans on earth and He walk this earth for about 33 years, teaching about the one true God and healing all and delivering all that He came upon.  Some times just saying a word and other times my laying His hand on them...Infact there were many ways and you can read about His amazing journey with man in the New Testament of the Bible but right now I will tell you about how He also took your sins upon Himself at the cross (which He did willingly, that is why He came to earth).  He was crucified and His blood ran for us.  God is completely holy and can not look upon sin but He wanted a relationship with us, that is why He created us, so He sent His only Son to bridge the gap. "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". Romans 6:23
But that is NOT the end of the story, Christ Jesus rose again from the dead, yes, so that we might know that He is the ONE.  God raised Him from the dead with more than 500 eye witnesses to the fact.  This is the one thing that NO other religion or "god" in this world can say.  Jesus said, "I am the Way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but through Me" John 14:6
In Romans 10: 9 it says "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
With are justified (made right with God) through the blood of Christ...He took our place.  When we come to Christ, we are born again, that is, our spirit (our heart) is created new by the power of God.  When we turn from our sin and make Jesus our Lord, He makes us new and forgives ALL our past sin.  If you think you are too bad to be forgiven, you are NOT.  Jesus forgave those who killed Him, who spit on Him, who mocked Him.  You and I, as people, may have the blackest of hearts but He turns it white again just by coming to Him.
If you have never heard this or if you have but have never taken time to think about it, seek Him out, find out everything you can by reading His word.  Start by reading the gospel of John.  If you have no access to a Bible, use the "email me"on this blog to contact me and I will try to get you one.

DRS Challenge #190-The Hole Thing

Good morning!
Time for another challenge!
Put a hole in it! Heehee!
My tag border has holes in it and also my tag itself has a nice big hole!
Today I used DRS stamps:188F Feeding Reindeer,  518E North Pole Sign, 631P Open Plaid (for the red and white stripes), 688P Polka Dot Background, and 829H Sleigh Rides (just as a print background).
I used a snowflake embossing folder by Darice to emboss the entire front of the card before adding my tag and the little decorative pennant.  I found some wonderful green and red striped ribbon to use on the top of the tag and also used some crystal Stickles on the pole top and the snow on the ground.
Thanks for coming to visit today!!! To see all the designer's samples and to join in the challenge, click HERE.  There is a prize given out each week to one blessed winner!
