ODBD Weekly Inspiration

Good morning!
Here is another idea for a gift or card for a friend who needs prayer.

Our Daily Bread Designs

I used a very light gray to cut my borders and the Praying Border also the second layer of Matting.  The card base is black and I've used some masculine decorative brads on the bottom.
I sponged a bit of gray on the Praying Border (the openings in the die for stenciling).
I had a masculine card in mind when I made this card, I have friends at church who have husbands that need cards occasionally and they don't want anything frilly.
To me this is perfect for a guy to get from anyone who wants to show that they care enough to pray.

Thanks for visiting today!

Blue Knight-Roses

Good morning!
This roses stamp set is so versatile.  You can use it as a main image or for an embellishment with a sentiment.

I used the Blue Knight Beautiful Roses 11-01-0001 and Bible Verses 1
11-00-0047 to create this card.
I embossed the roses in gold and then colored and cut out the top portion, edging the straight cut line with gold leaf pen.  I made slits in the side for my ribbon to run through and attached the ribbon in the back then made a bow and glued it in place.  The top portion of the card, the background, is embroidered gold paper.
I stamped the sentiment in black so that it could be read easier since the font is small then cut it out with a Sue Wilson die and edged with gold leaf. I cut another piece of the die set for the ornate framing and popped it up.

It's almost Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year!!
Luke 2:4-7
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife,[a] who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

ODBDSLC281 Reminder-Let's Be Sentimental

Good morning!
I just love these new Pennant Flags!
They are great for any occasion!
I've used them today with my favorite ODBD Ornate Hearts dies
and Shabby Rose Paper collection.

ODBD stamps: Pennant Flag Verses
ODBD paper: Shabby Rose

I don't know about you but I've finished sending Christmas cards and the next card giving holiday in this household is Valentines Day, so I'm starting on those cards.
I do want to wish you all a Merry Christmas however and this is my last post until AFTER Christmas, so...
Merry Christmas!
I started this card with a sage green base and built my layers up with Shabby Rose decorative papers, sage green Ornate Hearts, Shabby Rose, etc.
My Pennant Flag verse is stamped pink and an extremely light version of the sage green card stock and I just happened to have a VERY light green cord that I used at the top, tying knots for every Pennant.
I colored white pearls with Copic Markers to match my sage green for the corners.

ODBD December New Release Reminder

Good morning!

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs December Release, here is the card I created using The Beatitudes. This card serves as a gift as well, the Beatitudes are stamped on a card that is removable so the recipient can display the card on a desk or on the wall or wherever they want a reminder of the words of Jesus.
For more inspiration using the December Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.
Remember to visit each designer's blog site (links below) and leave a little love wherever you go!!

Inside I have a small message of thanks and I could also enclose a letter if wanted (Pennant Flag Verses and Pennant Flags).

This view shows the pocket better.  I glued the short side and the bottom to form the pocket. Now my Z Fold card is a pocket card. I can give my insert Beatitudes as a gift to be used as a bookmark or whatever they like.

Matthew 2:4-6New King James Version (NKJV)

4 "And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:

‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,

Are not the least among the rulers of Judah;
For out of you shall come a Ruler

Who will shepherd My people Israel.’[a]

Just a thought
Considering the Pharisees, scribes and priest knew the word of God so well, you would have thought that they would not forget the census that took place 33 years or so before and the fact that all the Jews were required to register at each tribes ancestral land...why then did they not ask questions as to WHEN Jesus was born instead of dismissing Him?  Could it be that they were comfortable with the status quo and did not want upheaval, which the Messiah WOULD have brought if they had embraced Him.
We need to ask ourselves if we are embracing all that God has for us or are we comfortable and don't really want change in our lives or the unpleasantness that might accompany following hard after God.

ODBDSLC281 Let's Be Sentimental

Good morning!

It is getting close to Christmas, the time when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Today I'm featuring a new stamp from the December release which is some of the teachings of Christ, the Beatitudes (can be found in Matthew 5-read it for yourself).  I love this scripture!

Time for a new challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs!
Let's Get Sentimental

ODBD paper: Shabby Rose CollectionHalf Shutter fold

I used 3 papers from the Shabby Rose collection and the Fancy Fold pre-cut and scored card to create this. I cut and mat each piece to fit in the spaces then used the word dies and butterflies to decorate.  I stamped the Beatitudes on a piece of decorative paper and embossed, then rounded the corners with a template and scissors and framed it with the Ornate Oval frame.
I added the Deco Border to the top and bottom of the card, cutting it a bit smaller than each section so that it would not interfere with the score lines.
I sponged gray Distress ink on the edges of my panels to match the gray butterflies in the paper print.
My embellishments are pearl trails for the butterflies. I used bits of decorative pearl shapes (scrolls and such) to achieve the little swirls.

ODBD December New Release Blog Hop

Good morning!
Are you ready for our new release?
It's beautiful!!

My first card features the new release For Thine Is The Kingdom.

I also used the new Deco Art Border and ODBD favorites Pretty Posies, Birds And NestFancy Foliage, Shabby Rose Collection Paper and Butterfly and Bugs stamp set
I stamped the For Thine Is The Kingdom with black ink and then stamped the butterflies with pink ink, it's visible but doesn't interfere with the reading of the passage.  I cut it and rounded the corners with a radius template and scissors then inked the edges with pink. I cut my flowers and shaped them, cut the foliage and Deco Border in green along with some leaves.  I layered 3 papers from the Shabby Rose paper and added pink tulle, the flowers, foliage, leaves and border. I glued some pink Prills to the flower centers and placed some pearl accents around the flowers to bring it all together!
I really love this new Scripture stamp.  It is perfect for making a gift for a friend.

My second card features the new release Pennant Verses and Double Stitched Pennants along with the Pennant Flags

I also used ODBD favorites Birds And Nest (For the flowers), Ovals, Stitched Ovals, Decorative Corners and Cozy Quilt Collection paper.
I added twine and Prills as embellishments for this card.
I layered the decorative paper with matching card stock and stamped, cut out and die cut the pennant layers, corner, and flowers then put it all together.  My decorative paper is popped up from the oval cut out.
My center oval was embossed and Liquid Pearls was added to each cross section. The bottom banner sentiment is in a wave bend.
Get your ink out, it's time to make some beautiful gifts for family and friends.

As Christmas approaches please remember the real reason we celebrate.
Matthew 1:20b-25
“do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus,[i] for he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:
23
“Look! The virgin will conceive a child!

She will give birth to a son,

and they will call him Immanuel,[j]

which means ‘God is with us.’”
24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. 25 But he did not have sexual relations with her until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus.
