DRS Challenge #233 The Heat is On!

Good morning!
Time to put on some heat!  This week's challenge is:
use any image, die cut or punched shape, paper, technique, but make it a summer theme..you could also use heat (embossing) in your creation!
I chose a tropical sunset.

DRS stamps: New Release-878L Flamingo Palm Tree Scene and 094D Sending You Sunshine.
I added some cute little rhinestone palm trees and a button threaded with floss (because I don't like naked buttons!!) to complete the scene.  It is double matted with warm summer colors.
This is a fast and easy card!!

ODBDSLC275 Challenge-3-D Reminder

Good morning!

This is a reminder post for the monthly challenge at ODBD.
You still have until July 3rd to enter HERE!!!

My 3-D project this time is one of the fun surprise boxes!!

ODBD stamps: You Bless Me So
ODBD paper: Birthday Brights

I used a metallic/sparkle sticker paper for some of the decor...it comes off as many colors but it is actually just silver.  Obviously, my grandson's colors are Medium blue, light blue and white.  We use silver as an accent color like on invitations etc.
I also used some acetate (I cut from packaging) for some of the elements so that they would stick up higher. It would just need a bit longer envelope to send.
I've already given this to my grandson, he graduated on June 8th, but it is so cute I wanted to use it as a sample for the 3-D challenge.
The great part about these boxes is that they fold down flat.

Ephesians 6:1-4
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.”
4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

What a blessing our grandson Jordan has been!  He has never given us a day of trouble, he has always obeyed us even though sometimes he may have rolled his eyes!! He has now graduated high school and is heading to Ontario, Canada to begin culinary school in the fall!!  I will miss him so much but I am happy for his accomplishments!!  God bless you Jordan as you begin your new life and to the rest of the graduating class of 2016, blessings to you all!

ODBD June Reminder

Good morning!
Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs  June Release,  For more inspiration using the June Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.

These are my favorite set for June, the Armor of God and Full Armor sets.
With these I have created not only this card but a beautiful Bible Journal page.

I also used the Double Stitched Circles and the Log Cabin Quilt die (seems strange maybe but the little rectangles are perfect for small sentiments), and the Double Stitched Rectangles for the frame.
it is hard to seen in this photo but there are hints of purple in my coloring of the armor this time.
My background was previously made by using Marvy Metallic Markers on black glossy card stock and covering with plastic wrap until dry.
I made my banner using the Full Armor verses and some Baker's Twine across the top...each cut with a rectangle from the Log Cabin Quilt for the appropriate size verse then fish tail cut on the ends.
My Armor man was colored and fussy cut and popped up.
I added purple nail head stickers (Mark Richards) to the bottom part of the frame.

The Bible journaling was done on the appropriate page in my Bible and I also used the Sunburst die/embosser to stencil the yellow and orange rays (Pan Pastels).  I used colored pencils for the little blue rays on the parts of the armor.  Pan Pastels were used to highlight the right verses for this illustration.  The Isaiah verse fits in perfectly with the Armor of God scriptures.

I used colored pencils to color the armor.

DRS Challenge #231-Color

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge-Color!
My card today is for a dad...thinking of Father's Day coming up and
lots of "dad" birthdays going on in June and July, I made a guy card.

The medium teal color did not get used but all the other colors are represented.
I used a die (ODBD) for the apron, added eyelets and a different pocket on the front so that the sentiment would fit better.  I added fiber for the apron strings and faux stitch lines with a Copic multi liner.  The edges are sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
My card is apron shaped.  I put the die on (a folded piece of 5 1/2 X 8 1/2) the edge at the top hanging over about 1/8" so that the top would not cut, now I have an apron front and back.  I scored about 1/2" down on the back side only so that it would open easier
since I put eyelets through the top.
My mitt is strung through the apron tie and glued in place so that it doesn't end up lost.

DRS Challenge #230-Birthdays

Good morning!

Time for birthday cards!
Our challenge this week is to make it a birthday card of some sort.
Mine is for baby's first birthday as you can see.

I used DRS stamps 631P Open Plaid in red and Orange to make my stripes, 688P Polka Dot bg to make the dots, 342P Checkerboard bg to make the flag and 891P Jimbo and the Gang for my circus animals.
I added the grass with a Martha Stewart border punch, a scalloped border, a button with floss and a stick pin for the flag.
This card idea came from Pinterest HERE.
My card is the shape of the tent hinged near the top about 1 1/2" down.
The letters and numbers are dies from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The 1st is glued onto acetate.
I hope you'll join us this week...who doesn't need more birthday cards???

ODBDSLC275-Pop It Up/Make It Dimensional

Good morning!

Time for a new challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs!
Create a 3d project, create an alternate card fold that is not flat (easel card, tri-shutter, double display, pop up...) or use dies for images or sentiments to create dimension on your card (using just circles, squares or rectangles in layers does not count).

I've made a Tri-Fold Card with the new stamp/die set, "You Bless Me So"

This view shows a bit better the popped out camouflage "You".

ODBD paper: Birthday Brights
ODBD Fancy Folds: Tri-Fold Card
I stamped the little flowers on the white circle die and also on two panels for decorating the card parts.  The other card panels are from the Birthday Brights paper pack.  (I also used some pale yellow cardstock). I stamped two of the little hearts on white for the very small areas to be covered.
On the yellow dot circle I die cut the "You" and then die cut several layers of "You" in white to layer underneath. (this is commonly known as the camouflage technique).  I made my own little pennant with "are so kind" to go with the "You" and stuck a button on the end "to attach it" to my circle.
After "papering" the different parts of the Fancy Fold Card I used the Bitty Borders, buttons, bow, and butterflies to finish decorating.
These Fancy Fold Cards can be decorated in so many different ways, they are so fun.  What an easy way to make a special card for someone.

ODBD New Release-Stamp/Die Combos

Hello everyone!!

I have another card with the new release from Our Daily Bread Designs to show you.

This card is done with the new Stamp/Die combo packs...Don't you just love that!!??!

The idea for the bg came from today's Free 4 All and MIX challenges on Splitcoaststampers.
Yay for free form water color.
The MIX challenge is actually from a Jennifer McGuire You Tube Video on "Water Color Lifting".
The background is lifted so that I could recess the sentiment.
I made and formed the asters and added a bit of bling to the centers, added a couple of small bows tucked underneath and then made the frame because it still just needed something...you know how that goes!
I hope you will check out the ODBD web site to see lots of ideas and the new products.

DRS Challenge #229-Camouflage

Good morning!

This challenge is about Camo but not what you may think!
It's Camouflaged!

(use any image, die cut or punched shape, but camouflage the die cut or punch...it can be a word die cut or a shape.
Here is an example of what we are talking about.  the "happy birthday" is camouflaged.  It is cut out of a background and then popped up with several layers of card stock die cut to the shape or in this case, I used black Fun Foam.  Fun Foam is found in most any craft store in the children's crafts area.  It is perfect for popping up.  It compresses to allow die cutting but then rises back up after die cutting to original thickness.
I also used a dot embossing folder (Lyfestyle) for my background piece and the golf ball and tee is a die from I.O.
The stamps I used from DRS are: 834H Everything Golf background and 839D Especially Fore You .
I used pierced dies from ODBD, Baker's Twine and Happy Birthday die by Little B.
I hope you will join us this week for the challenge!

ODBD June New Release Blog Hop

Good morning!
New June Release is here!
Today my first card features the new Armor of God stamp set

I decided to make an easel card to be able to show the armor plus a wonderful scripture of strength and hope.
I made my frame using the bolt die in the Workshop Tools, cut from chipboard and then glued to my chipboard frame. I then covered it with aluminum tape and tooled around the bolts to get a good edge on each. Then I rubbed the frame with black acrylic paint and wiped off the excess, added bits of teal paint and copper Inka Gold for more color and dimension.  My background is teal stock with a teal die cut of the Majestic Medallion glued on to it and then rubbed with silver Inka Gold.  I stamped the Armor of God, the top title and inside scripture all separately, die cut the words and fussy cut the armor then colored and popped up.
The Ornamental crosses were die cut with silver and copper shimmer paper and glued together.  My inside metal panel was cover with aluminum and run through with an embossing folder.  I colored both word die cuts with some grays to help them match the armor.
The inside metal panel and the frame on the outside were both cut with the Pierced Rectangles and the sentiments were cut with the Pierced Ovals.

I used the Majestic Medallion die to emboss my white panel and I also cut an oval out of the center. I made an oval frame to sit inside my cut out and popped up my sentiment to sit inside of that.
I die cut my flowers from yellow card stock and sponged pink on the outside edges of all the petals, formed them and added Prills (US Artquest).
My butterflies have pearl bodies and I put heart shaped rhinestones on the outside corners of the card.
To get a nice bow I curl it round a paint brush first before putting it together so that it stays rounded at the puffy bow parts.

Ephesians 6:10-17New King James Version (NKJV)

The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
