ODBD Inspiration

Good morning!

This is my card for this week's Inspiration post.  You can see this card and other designer's cards at the ODBD gallery.

I've used the new Rose die along with Rose Leaves, Lattice Background, Fancy Fan, Lovely Flowers stamp set and older release dies, Vintage Borders and Fancy Foliage.

I stamped the oval frame using Wilted Violet Distress Ink and then stamped Happy Birthday inside and cut it out using the Fancy Fan die (I turned it around and cut both sides to make an oval instead of a fan paddle). I then made layers of the Vintage Border dies using purple and white.
I cut several of each size rose petal from white card stock then sponged color from inside toward the outside leaving the ends the lightest.  I formed them with a large stylist and a foam pad then glued the layers together.  I used Stickles on the outside of each petal.   The leaves were also cut from white and sponged with color.

The other day when I was messing around making backgrounds with some Color Burst I did some of these yellow, orange and Magenta backgrounds for the new To My Friend stamp set with these wonderful dandelions.  I love the way they look like they are floating across a sun bright sky.
I've also used Ornate Borders and Flowers and Pierced Rectangles on this card.

After my background was completely dry I rubbed some magic powder (I actually don't know the name of it) over the surface before stamping with VersaMark and embossing with white embossing powder, to make sure the embossing  powder would not stick to the background.  I also stamped and embossed the sentiment.

ODBDSLC285-Spring Has Sprung Reminder

Good morning!
Our April Monthly Challenge...Spring has Sprung- Blooming with Die-Cut Flowers.
This is my 5 sided lantern using the Luminous Lantern set with the pentagon bottom instead of the square bottom.
I've made my lantern to look like a Gazebo.
On this lantern I've tucked the top flaps inside (see this post, to see the 4 sided lantern with flaps flared out)

So, I cut 5 side panels and a bottom, Cut the inset out of each side, cut 4 or 5 fence pieces, vellum for behind the fence (to cut down on the clutter), and cut my grass pieces (4 or 5).
I used the same green and cut the fancy Foliage X 3 and the Rose Leaves.
I then cut multiple of the smallest Rose pieces.
I decided to glue my lantern together before decorating, it just seemed easier.  I then started forming the buds and gluing them together with the foliage onto the lantern.
I glued the vellum to the back of the fence pieces, scored the fence pieces to match up with the folds of the lantern and glued them down then followed with the grass.
I have a battery operated tea light in the lantern, and the top is closed using purple floss.
My bow at the bottom is dyed seam binding.

ODBD April Release Reminder

Good morning!

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs April Release, here is the card I created using To My Friend stamp set and the Lattice Background die. For more inspiration using the April Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog.
This card also uses the Oval, Pierced Oval, Circles and Pierce Circles dies.

I created my background with Color Burst and course salt.  When dry I just brush off the salt and stamp or die cut it (Depends on my project of course) I stamped the dandelions from To My Friend with Black VersaFine using my Misti so that I could stamp the image several times to make it really black since the water color paper is pretty rough.  I stamped the sentiment on a leftover piece of background.
I die cut the lattice background from white then cut it in half.  I cut another one and just used the 2 long edges to trim out the cut edges of my Lattice.
The Gate fold is made by scoring an 8 1/2 X 5 1/2" piece of card stock at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8 which leaves 2 1/8" on both ends, this is the gate closure.  Fold the 2 end toward the middle and use a bone folder to make a good crease.
When adding the circle you only put foam tape on the left half to keep it from sticking to the other side.
When adding the oval at the top, leave the left side open so that you can tuck the circle underneath.

On the inside I repeated the lattice and circle with another sentiment from To My Friend.
For this card I added ribbon the help close my card securely.  The ribbon needs to be added before attaching the large image circle on the front.

ODBDSLC285-Spring Has Sprung

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge at ODBD!!
It's April and time for all those flowers to come out...create your own die cut flowers and join us for this fun challenge!!

What is better for spring than flowers, right?
My card today offers a variety of flowers, first on each fan paddle (except the center happy birthday) there are different flowers (part of the April release) but today they are all in the color yellow, and on the bottom (for a card "stop") there is a die cut and formed rose (another of our April releases).

Each fan paddle is cut twice, once in white and stamper on and once in gold, as a line shadow. I secured my fan paddles with a gold brad.
My background was embossed with the new Lattice Background die, using the embossing settings on my Big Shot.
The sentiment is from the Good Day stamp set and die cut with the Vintage Borders which goes so well with the fan paddles.
This is an easel card.  It starts with white card stock cut 5 3/4" X 9" then scored at 4 1/2" and again at 6 3/4".  Fold both scores inward then unfold to just folded in half. Cut another piece of white 4 1/2" X 5 3/4" and glue to just the last 2/1/2" making sure all edges of the card base and card front are even, now fold last score in again and you have your easel.
On the inside you must have something raised in order to keep the card open in the easel style.
My mother was from Texas and of course we all grew up knowing the song "The Yellow Rose Of Texas" so today I have made my flowers in honor of my mom.

There will be a $15 gift certificate  toward stamps (at ODBD) for one random winner as well as one winner for the Shining the Light Award.
You have until April 30th to submit your card to ODBD Blog HERE.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We have all sinned folks, let's face it, we need a Savior and the Bible says that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world and that there is no other name under heaven in which we must be saved, Acts 4:12.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the waythe truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
AND finally, how to attain eternal life:
Go to Jesus in prayer and ask Him to forgive you of your sin and for Him to come into your heart...the Bible says:
Romans 10:9 [Full Chapter]
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Find a Bible believing church to attend and start reading His word, the Bible...I would start at Matthew, the first book of the New Testament.

Shadow Box Scene-Heartfelt Creations

Good morning!

Today I have a shadow box made using the Woodsy Woodland stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creation.

From straight on

Another peek

Cover inside back of shadow box with a piece of 6 1/8 X 6 1/8” paper  and one for the front 6 1/8 X 6 1/8” paper (cutting away center to match opening of box), from the Woodsy collection and cut smaller pieces to fit sides and top 7/8 X 6 1/8”.  Glue all pieces in place and sponge edges with Tea Dye ink.
Stamp, die cut and Copic color all woodsy critters, landscape pieces and wonderland pieces.
Working in layers from the front, piece together scene on a base of green cut with the Fleur border Basics-non decorative edge (cut 4 bases altogether from green).
Piece together each layer using the base piece as ground and placing object so that they can best be seen.  On the last layer (with the deer) add double thickness of foam tape to the backs of deer and trees so that they will stand up away from back paper scene.
I glued each layer on before putting my box together and after securing the inside accordion tabs to the two fold in flaps just to make sure they stayed apart.
After everything was thoroughly dry I put my box together and then glued my front scene to the face of the shadow box.
Form and shape flowers and branch (from Birds and Blooms) and cut out extra flowers to make double blooms and to make the extra buds and bloom added to the branch, then add Marigold Prills to the centers and glitter to the petals.   Cut branch apart in one place and glue both pieces on the top of box front, then glue cardinal (from Woodsy Critters) to the top of branch.
Add Prills to the bottom of box front for flowers, Stickles to stamped flowers, and Glossy Accents to eyes of critters

Looking down

Another side view to see a bit more

Materials:
Glossy Accents
Stickles
Glitter-clear
Distress ink- Tea Dye, Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn
Foam tape

Hope you have enjoyed taking a peek at my shadow box.  I loved making it.  It was a lot of fun to create the scene with the help of Heartfelt Creations paper and 6 X 6 fold out card.

ODBD April New Release Blog Hop

Good morning!
Welcome to Our Daily Bread Design's April New Release Blog Hop!

Today I have for you a lantern made with the new Luminous Lantern, Roses, Rose Leaves and Lovely Flowers also Mini Tags .

I cut the lantern from heavy weight pink card stock and then lined the inside with vellum.  I cut several layers of the rose die and sponged the petals with pink and yellow Distress Inks then formed them with a soft mat and large stylist type tool.  The centers have some yellow Prills inside.
I made a bud using just the small peddles of the rose and glued it shut.  The leaves are cut with green then sponged with a darker green on the edges.
My ribbon is seam binding that was dyed to match the soft colors (and the inside part of the leaves).
I put a battery operated light inside the lantern and tied the tops, threading the ribbon through each hole and bringing it tight I also tied the mini tag with it (which says "Praying for you").
The Luminous Lantern die comes with 2 bottom pieces (4 or 5 sided) so that you can make your lantern like the one above or one that is 5 sided like a pentagon.
You can also have your top tucked in and flared out as I have mine above...so many options!

My next project is a card using To My Friend stamp set.

I made my background on water color paper using Color Burst and lots of water.  I dried it thoroughly and then put it in my Misti so that I could stamp it multiple times if necessary to get good coverage (since the paper is not smooth).  I also used some white acrylic paint and small stylist to make dots on some of the dandelion. I used white and black card stock for matting and framing to keep the pink/orange/yellow Color Burst background and images sharp and the focus on the images.
For a bit of embellishment I went with 3 acrylic half pearls in black.
