Christmas book and gift bag-Memory Box

                   Christmas book Tutorial Basics

 #1 Book front and back: 5 ½ X 10” white.  Score at 4 ½ and 5 ½ (1” in the center for book binding)

Die cut front with the first, (largest) oval tree frame die and set aside.

#2 Each page is 4 ½ X 5 ½”, center each progressively smaller oval tree frame die onto each page.

#3 This is the harder more confusing part…The page/binding tabs: Start with a 3 ¼ X 5 ½” piece of white then score at ¼”, 5/8”, 1”, 1 ¼”, 1 5/8”, 2”, 2 ¼”, 2 5/8”, and 3”.  Valley fold ¼” score then mtn fold the 5/8”, valley fold the 1” and 1 ¼” then mtn fold the 1 5/8”, Valley fold the 2” and 2 ¼” then mtn fold the 2 5/8” finally valley fold the 3” this will leave a ¼” tab at the end.  Now glue together the 5/8 to the 1”, glue the 1 5/8 to the 2” and glue the 2 5/8 to the 3” to make 3 page tabs with ¼” between each page tab and ¼” at the start and end.  This should fit perfectly into the 1” space on the book base in the center for binding.  If it doesn’t fit perfectly without interference with scores then trim the two ¼” ends to fit…it should be flat when glued down with tabs sticking up.

#4 Glue pages on with tab behind each.  The last page (back cover) is a piece of white cut 4 ¼ X 5 ¼” then letter pressed with an embossing folder.  I used Tumbled Glass Distress for mine, it turns out better when you roller (brayer) the color onto the embossing folder.   Glue this onto the back avoiding the score line.

#5 Glue the bunny and birds onto which ever pages you prefer.  Glue Merry Christmas onto the front bottom.

Gift Bag

#1 Front and back are 3 X 4”.   Side is 1 ¾” scored on both long sides at ¼”, turn then score at 4” and 7”.

#2 Where score lines intersect on side piece, cut triangle out up to long score line so the side folds around front and back easily.

#3 Cut 2 pieces of acetate or vellum for the inside of front and back 2 78 X 3 7/8” to avoid all corners.

#4 Die cut front and back with small enough oval tree frame die to fit.  Glue the acetate to the inside.

#5 Starting with one side at a time, glue the side on with tabs inside box.  When both sides are on glue border around the top then glue deer and star on.

#6 Punch a hole at the top of each side top then thread some ribbon through, knot each side on the inside.

For more tips on creating with the flower shaping molds, watch the tutorial at https://youtu.be/FSdPL7nXvQE.

Instructions:
Book size is 6 X 6”.  Cut 4 pieces of white cardstock 6 X 6” and score each piece at 1/2" on the left side.  Cut 7 pieces of decorative paper (1 for each side except the back) sized at 5 13/16” tall and 5 3/8” wide.  Each front piece will be cut for a pocket, the front needs a slit about 1/4" from the top for the Decorative Pocket Accent die.  Cut the pocket accent from white and glue to the slit in the paper.  When gluing the paper to the cardstock, glue on the edges and leave the pocket open for tag.  Cut tag from white and inner tag from decorative paper with a nice space for stamping a scripture sentiment.  Add white corners to the bottom of tag cut using the Album Tags and Accents corner die.  Use the same process on page 3.  All inside pages have white corners at the bottom of the page.  Page 2 and 4 have the Petite Pocket Accents, for this use the plain edge die to cut the tops and cut the narrow border from white the go over edges.  Glue sides and bottom only.

To decorative the front, stamp blossoms using Rose Madder, die cut and form (see video above).  Glue 2 layers for each bloom, pierce center and insert stamen.  Stamp Cherry Blossom Retreat branches, sign and birdhouse. Stamp the Wishing Well, pail and flower pot from the Wishing Well Oasis  Use Black Memento for all and color with Copics (or favorite coloring system). The branch, flower pot, sign and pail go on the front.  Pop up the pail, insert tag in pocket and then cover the back with decorative paper and draw journaling lines with blue glitter pen and a ruler.  Stamp a tag from the decorative paper using Forget-Me-Not ink with using Today’s Quotes and die cut with Album Tags.  Page 2 front uses the wishing Well stamped previously and die cut.  Glue to the bottom along with the corners. The tag is the same as page 1 tag (all the tags are alike with different scriptures on each).  All the backs have lines the same as page 1.  The back of page 2 along with the lines has another tag die cut from the decorative paper and stamped with Today’s Quotes.  Brads are added to each end of the die cut tag.  Page 3 is decorated with the birdhouse and 2 birds colored with Copics and 2 white corners.  The back has another decorative paper tag cut out and stamped with Today’s Quotes.  Page 4 is decorated with the Daydream bridge large die and white corners.  Die cut the center die of Intricate Swirl Frame die set from white and stamp using Deep purple from For My Friend Stamp Set.  Pop up on the large Daydream die cut.  Glue 2 more birds close to the top.  The back of the book is not decorated but you could add a piece of decorative paper to it if desired.
Add a bit of glue to the 1/2" tabs and glue pages together well enough to keep them together while punching 6 holes through all layers.  If you don’t have a screw punch then use a leather punch or piercer.  See Japanese Stab Easy Book Binding (option B): https://incredibusy.com/easy-book-binding-two-ways/  for binding technique.  Add a bead to each fiber end.

Psalm 91

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.

Night Before Christmas Accordion Book

Merry Christmas everyone!
I re-wrote Twas The Night Before Christmas poem to go with the REAL reason for Christmas.  I did this a few years ago but just recently thought about putting it on my blog!  I may make this an annual post!  This book was also published in The Stamper's Sampler.
I discovered a very interesting effect when creating background paper for this book.  I wet a paper towel with bleach (which is nothing new) but then after dabbing my black linen stock or the Taupe stock, i heated the paper with my heat gun.  Only the bleached spots turned brown like toast!
cover: Stamp credits Toybox Stamps, Stampington & Co.  I did by own calligraphy in gold  acrylic ink and nib for the Title and Gold Calligraphy pen (poem inside).
1st and 2nd page stamp credits: Eureka, Stampington & Co., Stamper Anonymous.
Poem: "Twas the night before Christmas and on a donkey she rode, The journey was hard, the night was cold...No complaining was heard when a stable was given, she made up a bed and prayed to her Father in heaven."
3rd and 4th page stamp credits: No name on stamp for Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, Angels and Shepherds-Stamps Happen.
Poem: "And there she gave birth in that lowly stall, to the King of kings and the Lord of all....The shepherds were told as angels were singing, they went to see Him glad hearts they were bringing."
5th and 6th page stamp credits: Three wise men-Stamps Happen, Open book and writing on book-Stampington & Co., Renaissance Art Stamps.
Poem: "Wise men were traveling they followed the star, they came to bow down they came from afar...Mary kept these things in her heart others told and quilled, the miracle of God the prophecy fullfilled."
Back cover stamp credits: Toybox Stamps, Eureka Stamps-John 3:16, Stampington & Co.-music.
All images were stamped on taupe cardstock treated or streaked with bleach except front cover and angels.  They were stamped on black which had been treated (streaked or sponged with bleach).  Black strips on covers were also stippled with gold acrylic. Radiant Pearls was also used in places for color.  Rhinestones and acrylic paint were used to accent. Gold Leaf Pen was used on some edges.  Book Binding Tape was used to hold the accordion book together.  A real feather was used for the quill.  Gold cord and thread were used throughout. Gold corner stickers were used, rubbed with antiquing.
I hope you enjoy this Christmas book on Christmas Eve.
Remember WHY we celebrate Christmas...the birth of Christ our Savior.
Find out about this miracle by reading Matthew 1:8-2:18 and Luke 1:5-2:38
