     My card today was made up from using the new release (May) Morning Glories twice (it is a corner stamp) to make a frame.  I cut out the center and used the Quatrefoil Pattern die cut behind the frame, then I mounted them onto a piece of coordinating paper from the Christian Faith collection of ODBD. I die cut the lattice cross and used the two ends to form my corners at the top.  I stamped and die cut my hummer and colored then used Stickles (glitter glue). The words are from Ornate Frame Sentiments and cut out using the Antique Labels and Borders die.  For the bottom I used one of the Beautiful Borders (sort of representing the tops of a fence) and threaded it at the bottom with blue floss then added pearls.  The ribbon runs between the morning glory frame and the Quatrefoil then around the decorative paper. Hummer and sentiment are popped up.  I also used some Liquid Pearls, in various colors, around the frame.

Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge 209-Rain

Well, This sunflower is blooming through the storm as we all should do!! Usually the storms of life, though they feel terrible at the time, they make us stronger.
Today the challenge at Mark's Finest Paper, Speedy Fox & Friends, is to create a "Rain" card.  I don't have any rain images so I used a combination of glue dots sprinkled with clear embossing powder, then heated and Crystal Effects on the cloudy looking sky and on the flower.  I even put some "water" splashes on the sentiment.

Tea Party time-for Emily

This card is for Emily, a 6th grader who love Bible drills and colorful fish!  I made this card to help cheer her up as she is going through some difficult health issues! Inside is a Bible verse for her. This was part of the Tea Potters challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  We do cards each week for someone who is suffering from health issues, a death or other loss and needs cheering up.  Come join us Here.

I used watercolor paper to make the background and then stamped on top of it with the water swirls AND the fish.  I also stamped the fish on white card stock and colored with Copic Markers then cut them out and glued them on top of the fish I stamped on the watercolor background.  I stamped them on the watercolor even though I knew I was going to cut them out of the white and glue them on, because they had some parts and bubbles that were too small to cut out.

I glued fiber with long fringes to the bottom to look like seaweed.  Lastly, I added some sparkly sequins.

I hope she likes it!

I am showing a closer up semi side view to show the second layer of flower 

which makes it look a bit more 3-D. 

Below is the sketch, as you can tell, I turned it 90 degrees.  I felt like this better suited the stamp that I had planned to use.  A sketch is just a starting point, you may turn it on it's side, upside down or backward, which ever way suits your need, and think of placement rather than shapes...that top rectangle could be an oval or a heart, you get the picture.

I used the Beautiful Borders die from ODBD and also the Christian Faith Paper Collection from ODBD.

Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge #208 Kraft

Stamp set used: Hoppy Easter. Come join us at Speedy Fox & Friends for this week's "Kraft" challenge.  Use Kraft cardstock on your project...that's easy!!  To submit your project in the challenge, click HERE.

I started out with the pink by cutting with a circle die off the edge.  Next I did the kraft by cutting 1 size smaller to form a frame.  I ran these together through with my chicken wire embossing folder.  Next, I cut the chicken wire background and glued it to the back of my circle frame.  I added the grass to the bottom and glued in place. I covered the back with a piece of light green stock.  I cut a 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" square of corrugated kraft then cut it in half to make two corners and glued them down.  I wound yellow/white bakers twine around twice and tied a bow then I glued the layered panel to a kraft folded card.
I stamped both bunnies and the Hoppy Easter on white, colored and cut out the bunnies, circle cut the words.  The big bunny is popped up and the words (after I made a circle frame from kraft) I popped up as well. I used Liquid Pearls-pink around the words. I cut the embellishments from dies and applied Stickles on the rose then glued everything to the card.

Color Challenge Cross

The colors for this challenge at Splitcoaststampers was Very Vanilla, Piroulet Pink and Pistachio Pudding, or whatever you have that's close.  I did something close! Dessert on this challenge, NO STAMPS!
I have some word dies so I chose Love which the cross signifies.
All the dies are from Our Daily Bread Designs (except the word which is from Elizabeth Craft Design).  I used pink pearls and sheer pink ribbon with a button to decorate.  The flowers in the center are from the Ornamental Cross set. The flourish background die (green) and the pink panel also are part of the Vintage Flourish Pattern set.
I used pink Liquid Pearls for the stitch lines.

 The ultimate Love was shown on the cross when Jesus, the perfect man, died for you and I because the penalty for sin is death.  He took our place that day, paid the penalty in full, the perfect lamb of God was the sacrifice.

I cut the larger cross twice, once in blue and once in yellow. I replaced the parts you would normally just throw away from the blue cross with yellow (I kept the yellow cross for another time).  The yellow sort of reminded me of a halo.  The flowers are from the Ornamental crosses set, I cut one from several pastel colors then formed them a little and filled them with yellow Flowersoft.  All the stamps and dies I used are as follows:

Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge #207, Letter T

Today's challenge at Speedy Fox and Friends is to make a card using the letter "T".   My card today is T for truck.  I also used a sketch for this card making it very fast and easy to do.

I used some embossing folders and also some screw head brads for embellishing.

1. Was there a single event that lead you to crafting? My mother was an artist and so my sisters and I have always been involved with art of one kind or another since my mother did a lot of different crafts.

2. What other art forms to you enjoy? Photography & scrapbooking are the only other crafts I do presently but I HAVE done numerous others in the past such as quilting, sewing, candle making, Tole painting, macrame, cross stitching, oil and watercolor, etc.

3. What other crafts have influenced your style?  Watercolor, Tole painting.

4. When you go shopping in a crafting store what is the one weakness you can't resist? paper, ribbon, etc.?  Dies and/or embossing folders

5. Have you influenced others in your family to also craft? My son and daughter are very good at drawing and that is basically all they do at present.

6. Do you work one creation through to completion or do you multi task with many on the go at one time? Both depending on if I get stuck, I leave it and move on, going back when I get more ideas.

7. What is your favorite coloring medium?  I love my Copics. Why? They blend so well. I love the colors you can achieve.

8. What is the funniest thing that has ever happened while crafting? One night my sister and I were painting on T-shirts, it was very late and she was getting the shirt she had on into paint every time she reach over toward my side of the table, when I noticed I pointed it out to her and we both started laughing so hard my husband came out of our room, where he had been fast asleep, and got on to us which , of course, made us laugh even harder!

9. If you could go on a crafting weekend with 3 other crafters who would they be? Melissa Cash, Ronda Clark and Kim Meeks...they are all very fun girls to craft with.

10. Is your craft room tidy or do you like creative disorder? I like creative disorder which is in order to me.

11. If you could go on a holiday to any art gallery in the world, what would it be?  Italy or France not sure which I would like to see the most or where the most art is.

ODBDSLC197-WATER OR RAIN

Today I bring you The Sea, the largest body of water on Earth.  At sunset, if you are traveling along hwy 1 in California, you will see the waves breaking on the shore and you will notice that they reflect the colors of the sunset sky!  It is a beautiful sight to see. My image is die cut in two parts, using an outside cutout die and an inside cut.  The outside cut has the piercing already in the die.  The flourish frame is from the same set and I added a darker color to the embossed stitching around the edges.  I used paper from Blooming Gardens behind the flourish pattern die.  The "sea grass" is just thin cuts of green vellum and curled with my fingernail.  The little "succulents" are a small flower die in the Crosses set.  The smallest cross die is on the sentiment panel (the largest is approximately 3-4").  I used some yellow flower soft in the centers of the flowers after molding them on a soft foam with a large ball stylist.  I also made some "sand" with Dune pigment ink, heavy embossing powder, micro beads, gold mica chips and gold dust.  I happen to have some tiny star fish and shells the I also added to the sand.
My image is colored with Copic Markers and then I added Diamond Dust to the sea spray and waves breaking.   The sentiment was sponged with distress inks.

Speedy Fox & Friends challenge #206 Vellum

Today's challenge is to use vellum in your creation.  I used vellum for my main image.  I embossed with white pigment ink and white powder.  I then colored from behind with Copic Markers.  I cut the image in an oval and sponged yellow distress ink on the edges.

Be Strong and Courageous

I did this card today for my friend Kathleen Lammie of SCS. She has a very rare lung disease and needs a transplant NOW!!
I put this card in the Tea Potter challenge (They are all making cards for Kathleen today) and in the color challenge (the colors were Navy, Olive and aqua).
I will be sending this card off tomorrow!!
I used the new release crosses and ornate bg dies from Our Daily Bread Designs, The scripture and cut out is also from ODBD.  Under the ornate bg frame is a stamped and embossed bg in Navy.

Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge 205

Hope you had a fantastic week and yay! it's Saturday!!! Time to get creative!!  This is the time to get your Mojo on!
The challenge this week is to use the negative space of a die.  I used a die cut to "stencil" color in the background as if it is a lattice with garden behind.  I used Brilliance ink pads and a sponge for the stenciling.
 I also used the negative of a die to make my frame in blue. Be creative, you can do whatever you want with a negative space.
The stamp sets I used today were Hum Along With Me and Camellia.

Fairy Tea Party

The challenge for the Tea Potters this week was a Fairy Tea Party using the flower of your birth month!  I did my last one with the Lily of the Valley but I only had this one stamp and it was actually a stamp from an Easter set at Our Daily Bread Designs.  The little fairy with it is from Wee...The bringer of spring.
The top two cards were done with very old stamps from Stamps Happen.  I used lots of lovely dies from Spellbinders and a corner die from Cheery Lynn Designs.  The Embossing folders are from Cuttlebug except the bottom card which is from Lifestyle Crafts (on blue paper).

ODBDSLC196-HUMMERS

This is the 4th Anniversary challenge from Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD) and the last for this month (it is a two week challenge).  You have until April 1st to join us for this Shining the Light challenge at ODBD.  Use as many ODBD stamps and dies as you can on this last Anniversary challenge.
On my card today, I have used the Canning jar upside down for my Hummingbird feeder.  I used to eyelets at the top and strung my Baker's Twine through it then painted little red and white dots to look like the twine running through the jar.  On the bottom I used two yellow flower eyelets and two red plastic (acetate) flowers to make the feeding holes.  Behind the jar is the Quatrefoil Pattern die over the Bee Balm/Hummingbird paper from ODBD done in an oval.  I used the Decorative Corners die (Crosses) and the Beautiful Borders die on this card as well.
With the Hummingbird stamp I got a reverse image by stamping ink onto an acrylic block then stamping the block onto card stock.  I had to cut this one out as my die is the other direction but I used the die on the other hummingbird.  I also stamped, colored and cut out the Bee Balm at the bottom under the border trim.  The Sentiment scripture is from the Faith set.  The scripture, jar and hummers are all popped up and in fact the right hand hummer is double popped.
I used three different papers from the Blooming Garden paper collection at ODBD.  I felt like I need to balance out the red so I added a red sheer bow at the top left.

Neon Happy Thoughts

I was playing with the Hero Arts Neon ink pads today. Made a stencil with the chicken wire die from Ceery Lynn Designs and sponged the color on. Also used the Memory Box butterflies and sponged color on the top filigree butterfly using black linen for the base.  Stamp is from Inkadinkadoo and enamel dots are from Freckled Fawn.

Journal and Parrot Card Faux Journal

This Parrot is from Stampendous. Our challenge was to get inspiration from a site featuring hand made journals and books.  I tried to make my card look like a journal using metal photo corners and making my 3 black bows look somewhat like binding along with the decorative Italian paper.
The scripture stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I also made this actual journal with fiber binging and a stamped aged paper. I also used large copper eyelets for my binding and tied beads to the ends of each fiber.

Stamps are from Holly Berry House, Stampers Anonymous and Inkadinkadoo.  Copper parts are by We are Memory Keepers.  I used regular copy paper inside for pages.

Gelli Plate Prints

 Today I was playing with my Gelli Plate.  That thing is awesome! Our challenge was to use print so I used a couple of dictionary pages for my prints, loading them several times, each with a different color combo and different stencils.   The top card is using Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and a sketch.  It also has lace, ribbon, button and sequins from my new 12 bottle set of sequins by Doodlebug. The bottom card is using a Cheery Lynn Designs butterfly die.

MFP Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge #204 Inspiration Photo

This week at MFP Speedy Fox and Friends we are taking inspiration from a photo of a sunset somewhere tropic.

I love the colors in this photo, (I actually think they are really Easter'y) so I have put them in my card background and somewhat in the colors of my image.  The stamps are from the "Friends" set at Mark's Finest Papers. I've added pearls and ribbon as embellishments and made my sentiment a slide for my ribbon. The main image is popped up.

Welcome to the 6th Anniversary Blog Hop for Our Daily Bread Designs!

 I used the Scripture Collection 13 created for the 6th Anniversary of Our Daily Bread Designs for this card. The set comes with 4 scriptures and  I decided to make one card for each scripture in the set.

 The dies for this card are from Our Daily Bread Designs (ODBD).  I used The Beautiful Borders, Zinnia and Leaves, and Daisy Chain Background.  The stamps are from the Scripture Collection 13 and Zinnia.

 

I used the Quatrefoil Pattern & Fancy Foliage dies and Scripture Collection 13 stamps for this card.

I also use the Cuttlebug embossing folder with half pearls.

This card for the Scripture Collection 13 was my first using this set.  The scripture that I picked for the Collection is seen here.  It means a lot to me as I think about the fact that we need only to call on our God, our Heaven Father and He will answer us.  He is our shield and and defense, our help in trouble, our provider and protector.  He is our creator and the one who gives us the gifts we have within ourselves and external gifts as well!!

MFPSpeedy Fox & Friends challenge 203

The challenge this week is to use Black and white and 1 color.  I chose to use yellow.
The stamps I used are from the Bring On the Sun set.
I just happened to have this yellow bee ribbon and the little bee button that went perfectly with the stamp set.
The only thing I did besides coloring the bees and sunflower center, was to sponge a little yellow Brilliance to the white background.

Our Daily Bread Designs stamps for a color challenge at SplitcoastStampers (SCS).
I used round nesting dies to make the porthole and nailhead dimensional stickers.
I also included corrugated kraft card stock and twine. The grid paper is a pre-embossed Tim Holtz paper from a pad.

Hello friends! Today I am excited to share my PURPLE card with you.  Amethyst is the 6th anniversary stone, so as this is the 6th anniversary for Our Daily Bread Designs, the challenge at Shining the Light is to use purple or lavender in your creation.  To see all the creations in one place or to join the challenge, click HERE.  You have until March 16th to join us.  For this challenge you may use any stamps but if you have ODBD stamps we would love to see you use them.  If you participate, you have a chance to win the $15 certificate toward ODBD stamps or to be spotlighted for the Shining the Light Award (Shining the Light Award is only for those who use ODBD stamps). I made 4 layers of flower with each being popped up to add dimension.  Gold micro beads were added to the center, I then colored some of them with Copic Markers.

Rainy Day cards

Rainy day challenge at SplitCoastStampers (SCS).  I used Glossy Accents and GooseBumps to get the raindrops/wet look.  The yellow card is water color washed then stamped with bleach. I used re-inkers to color in some lines/stems. The flower stamps are from Fred Mullett, the sentiment is Penny Black.
The top card I stamped the flowers by Penny Black with soft grey then used masking fluid on them. I then used re-inkers and water to wash color in the background.  I then water colored the flowers.  I used glossy Accents and Goose Bumps to make the rain look. The sentiment on this card is by Stamping Sensation.
