ODBDSLC232-Anything Goes with ODBD Stamps

Good morning!!

Today starts another challenge! This is the last challenge of the month and it is "anything goes"!

ODBD stamps used: The Cross
ODBD dies used: Doily, Ornamental Crosses, Flourished Star Pattern, Elegant Ovals, Vintage Flourish Pattern
ODBD papers used: Shabby Rose Collection

The first layer is the outer die of the Flourish Star Pattern, it has the little stitch piercings on the edges.  I then cut the Vintage Flourish Pattern and trimmed it down to fit inside of the stitches.  I embossed the largest size of the Vintage Flourish cut outs (an oval type shape) inside the solid part of the Vintage Flourish Pattern. I cut the Doily out of the Shabby Rose Collection and popped it up. The cross was cut from the same cardstock as the Vintage Flourish Pattern then backed with white.

The verse was stamped and cut out with the Elegant Ovals and popped up.

I added the pre-made leaves and flowers and made a bow from some dyed ribbon.

Easter is coming up in a few days.  The cross is where He died but the grave could not keep Him.  He had victory over death and the grave.  He rose again from the dead.  He is alive and He lives and reigns with God our Father in heaven.  We can be with Him forever just by accepting Him as our Lord and Savior. John 5:24 Jesus words..."Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life."
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.
God gives us the choice, He does not force us to love Him or believe in Him but if we do, He give us grace, mercy and blessings in this life and He gives us life everlasting in the next. You can be clean inside, your sins forgiven, just ask Jesus to forgive you of all your sin and turn away from wrong doing.
Everyone dies and no one knows when...make your choice today. Chose life!

DRS Challenge #167- Pets

Good morning all!

This week's challenge is Pets! It could be any animal/bird etc. you call a pet!

My pet is a dog and pretty much always has been.  I love how dogs love us! We have cats too but believe me, the dog shows us love far and away more than the cats!

So, along with my plaid (sort of guy plaid this time) I've added hearts to show that love dogs and their owners feel for each other.

My dog is a black lab but black is hard to color and see any detail so the dog here is a cute little brow and tan. I've used copper metallic ribbon and leather covered buttons to make the card even more masculine. This is a fun card to give to a boy who has a new puppy or really just about any occasion.  You can write whatever you like inside.

DRS stamps used: 1117F Wages the Dog, 1106D Happy Tails greeting, 613P Woven Plaid, 808H Interlocking Hearts.

On the plaid (separated) I used tan and brown inks, a tan sparkle pen and a brown pen. I also used copper shimmer card stock, Spellbinders nesting scallop square and square dies and Cat's Pajamas label dies.

Chameleon Pens Review

Hello dear friends!  Today I'd like to introduce you to a new coloring system and to give you my views on the product.  First I will show you some of the cards I've done with them.

These are my cards so far and for this review!

I have found that the pens do have a learning curve as stated on their web site.  I watched all the company's learning videos before beginning even my first card!  I like them best when using them in medium spaces like flower petals.  My first card above may have been too difficult for my first try but as I learned just how long each "charge" would last I started picking more appropriate projects for learning.  The best image for using the pens in all their values was the Hydrangea.  I was able to color a multitude of petals with each charge from light to very dark. 

On the Tulips I learned to mix colors for more depth and realistic flower colors.  On the roses, I just pretty much stuck to the pink throughout and each petal was done from light to darker with one pen.  I did add a bit of another color to deepen the shadows and this is where I would love to have had another darker shade of pink for such times.  I would wish that as the company grows they would add a few "in-between" colors.  They have 3 greens, 3 blues, two yellows etc. I would like at least another pink (darker) and maybe another red, purple, etc. 

All in all I think that it has a very pleasant look to it and with the learning, of course, comes a more beautiful outcome.  Judging from comments I got in my gallery on Splitcoaststampers, people in general really like the look!

Don't buy them thinking they are like Copic Markers because they ARE NOT.  If you are proficient with Copics you WILL have to relearn with this system.

Don't get discouraged though.  Just like learning any new coloring system, you WILL get better at it!!

So these are my thoughts about the Chameleon Pens and I hope this has helped.

I have not refilled my pens yet so I can't really comment on the ease or difficulty of that part.

ODBDSLC231-Religious Spring and Easter Inspiration

 Good morning!

Today is the start of our new challenge. See the photo below for the inspiration photo.

This week is Religious Spring and Easter Inspiration.

Well, my card this week is a little Easter, a little inspirational and a whole lot spring.

My basket is 3-D and FULL of flowers!! I used a craft stick as a gift card holder (my gift card in this case is a ticket to invite you to God's priceless gift of salvation.). Easter is the time when we celebrate the risen Savior.  I also added a cross "charm" to the basket with the bow. The basket sits on a pretty crochet doily but it is still on an outside table that is why we have our friend, Mr. Hummer visiting! I used the top border to represent a trellis or lattice work. 

I used a lot of dimensionals on this card to pop up the basket, some flowers the hummer, and etc. I'm not sure how practical it would be to send in the mail but if you have a church friend or someone you can hand deliver it to, then it would be perfect!

God's priceless gift...do you know what that is?  John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

v. 17

For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Saved from what you might say. Well no matter what the "world" tells you, there are consequences for wrong doing (sin). His word says that the wages of wrong doing is death.  But the gift God gives us eternal life (not death) by believing in His only son Jesus Christ and believing He died for us and rose again from the dead and we can live forever with Him in paradise. Romans 6:23.

Please read for yourself and check out what I've told you. You should never except what another says about God without checking His word for yourself.

DRS Challenge #166 Color

Good morning everyone!

Today starts a new challenge at DRS Designs-the COLOR challenge! 

This is one of my favorite challenges.

DRS stamps used:  1098M Butterfly Spray, 744F Three Butterflies, 717E Warms My Heart

Here is the picture of this week's colors, aren't they so pretty!

I also used Spellbinder Scalloped Border die, Cheery Lynn corner die, ribbon and acrylic baubles on this creation.  My image is colored with Copic Markers.

I kind of did this card different than it looks and if I had realized it would look the same either way, I would have chosen the easier route, let me explain:

I cut my butterfly panel with the border cut and then instead of cutting the purple panel with the plain version of the border die, I cut the sentiment panel with the die backward (having to line it up exactly). The purple panel is all one piece, the card base.  What would have been so much simpler would have been to cut the purple panel with the plain border die.  Good grief! Oh well., it's all good!

I ran the sheer ribbon top and bottom under the butterfly panel and on top of the sentiment panel just to add interest mostly to the sentiment panel then I added the little baubles to the bottom and cut out the butterfly for the top.  I added the wide and narrow ribbon bow to finish it off.

Chameleon Pens-Hydrangea

Good evening!

Today I have used Our Daily Bread Designs stamps and did the color challenge at Splitcoaststampers which was White, Slate and Wisteria, dessert is to use green because today is St. Patrick's Day.  I used ONE pen to do ALL the flowers in this bunch.  This is a perfect example of what the Chameleon Pens do.  You go from very light to very dark using the same pen.  My green are the same except I want to change the color a bit so I used two different greens.
For added flavor, I used  white Liquid Pearls for the dots and a few dots spread around.  I used gray lace and gray sheer ribbon.  The background is embossed with a Lifestyle embossing folder.

Chameleon Pens-Tulips

Good evening everyone!

This is my third project using the Chameleon Pens.  I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.  I like the colored images better when I use multiple colors, hopefully you agree! I used the pink, Bisque, red and warm yellow on the tulips. Olive and spring grren on the leaves.
The dies are from Spellbinders and I dyed my ribbon to match the Bo Bunny double dot card stock.

Chameleon Roses

I've tried another image using the Chameleon Pens.  I think that practice makes a big difference.   This image is not as ornamental as the last one or as many colors but I think the process looks a bit more refined.  I did this card today for the inspiration challenge.  Wow! I have never seen such ornate cookies in my life!!

DRS Challenge 165- Flowers

Good morning!

Today starts a new challenge at DRS.  Flowers

Flowers are what we all need right now, right?

DRS stamps used: 104P Daffodil Frame, 094D Sending you Sunshine
Miscellaneous items used: Embossing folder by LifeStyle Craft, Die cuts by Spellbinders and foam tape by 3M.
I used Copic Markers to color my image.
My daffodils are up and blooming right now!  They are so pretty all over our 3 acres.  I love spring bulbs!  Today is suppose to rain and I truly hope it pours!  We need rain so badly out here in Central Cali. Can you imagine Yosemite National Park without waterfalls?  Well, our snow pack is so low that the waterfalls will probably dry up early this summer (normally they never go dry but last summer we saw only a trickle out of the tallest of the falls, Yosemite Falls).
so to get back to the challenge, just make a card with flowers on it, simple! Chameleon Pens-Flower Girl

Hi every one and good morning to you all!

Today I am featuring a card I did for yesterday's Splitcoaststamper  color challenge.

I used a new pen (to me) called Chameleons.  When I started coloring I knew at once that it would take some practice to be good at it and I should have started with a large, more open image.  Oh well, next time!  I'm fairly happy with the way this turned out even though I was wondering for a while whether it would end up in the trash!  I love the intense color the pens give and I think over-all that helped with the image turning out fairly well.

I plan to do several more images with these pens of course, before deciding on them, because I know that when I first tried Copic Markers I hated them and now I love them!  So, I expect I will feel the same way about the Chameleon pens.

I can't really even comment on them yet as I need more practice.

For this card: I colored and then cut out and framed using Four different sets from Spellbinders ( Labels 39, Labels 39 Decorative Accents, 5X7 Elegant Labels 4, and Labels 4).  The "dessert" on the challenge was to use real (paper/silk, etc) flowers in the design.  I used some Prima roses and "unknown" paper flowers with pearls for centers. The silk butterfly is from Petaloo.  The leaf flourish die is by Our Daily Bread Designs.  I'm not sure about the pearl accents.
