The Church Sizzix Tim Holtz

Good morning crafty friends!

Yes, first of all, these dies have been sitting in my craft room unused for years.
These are the original steel rule big dies from Sizzix.
I always wanted to play with them and this year was finally the year to do it.
What got me started was the mansion at Halloween for my daughter, (her birthday is Halloween).  I always try to do something different for her but this year I was coming up short of ideas until I looked up and saw the big dies I never used!
So, I made her the cutest haunted house ever all lit up on the inside with purple Halloween tiny lights.  I loved it so much I almost didn't send it to her!! LOL!
Well, that got me started.  Next, I made the regular size church (still using the same steel rule dies) for my sister who really loves churches.  It was similar to what you see here only on a smaller scale, I did not use the mansion piece, nor did I expand the width.
Here are a few pictures of the church I made for our family.

I used a shadow box upside down for my stand, this works perfectly for hiding tiny light switches inside.  I used some of Tim's new adhesive Christmas plaid ribbon on the outside of the box, painted the rest with white and used a palette knife to add Snow-Tex and glitter.
I drilled small holes for the trees and a larger hole for the wires to come up from under the box to the inside and outside of the church, none of that shows of course.

The trees just have a bit of white gesso painted on them then glittered.

I used the cobblestone embossing folder from Sizzix to make the stone part of the building, steps and walkway.
The wreath was made with some of the greenery Tim released this year at Christmas. (I got most everything from Simon Says Stamps.  I picked from Sizzix folders and Idea-ology (I already had the Sizzix Dies).

From this photo of the whole church, you can see that I used pieces from the Mansion and also that I expanded the sides to make it a larger scale church than the original.

Sizzix does not make these dies anymore BUT, they make all the pieces for all the buildings in 1 set now, they are just on a little smaller scale.
I resisted the new dies for as long as I could because of having MOST of the large ones but I finally gave in and recently purchased the smaller set of the Village Collection.

Even the little bell is from Idea-ology.

I'm hoping you can see that the windows (which are pieces of Mica) have been dyed on the inside with a combo of pinks, yellows and purple alcohol inks to make some "stained glass windows".

When I was finished putting everything together and stuffing tiny lights (clear) inside the church, I glued it to the base along with everything else and touched up the texture paste around the building base.
I glued my tiny Christmas lights onto the outside of the church, glued my tiny wreath with red ribbon and 2 gold half balls on the doors for knobs.
If you are curious about the building siding there are several You Tube videos out there, including one from Tim Holts (the Haunted Mansion).
For the widening of the church, there is no pattern, I just measured and cut my own extra panels with tabs for gluing.  Once the siding is on you can't see where the seams were.
So, this was me finally using my dies!
I'm so proud of myself, LOL!
Hope you enjoyed this little project, it was a lot of work, but I loved it!
Now, don't be telling my sister that she got a smaller church!

Thanks for visiting!

Luke 2:6-14

And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.[c]

The Shepherds and the Angels

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”[d]

Colossians 3:12-14
12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

I Corinthians 13:4-8a
The greatest love chapter

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong doing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Special Place In My Heart

Good morning crafty friends!
What a fun Valentine!
This new heart die and rose images are
so pretty!

Material List HERE

 Card size:  5 X 6 7/8”

Make a shaped card base with a side fold (see video) using the outer die of the Flourished Companion Frame die. Then cut another panel with the outer die from pink decorative paper.  Use the outer die and the large decorative die together to make a thin white frame for the card base then glue it on top of the pink paper matching edges.

Splatter the pink paper with white acrylic paint (you can use a toothbrush or similar brush wet with water first to accomplish this).  This mimics the Baby’s Breath.

Cut the Decorative Heart from white.  Glue the large part onto card without inner hearts.  On the smallest heart, stamp the sentiment using Vibrant Fuchsia then glue it to the center of open scalloped heart cut out.

Stamp the Budding Heart using black, die cut then color.  Pop up the colored heart onto card, be sure not to cover wording.  Add pearls around heart edge.

Add white acrylic dots to Baby’s Breath and Diamond Stickles to Roses.  Randomly glitter card base.

Add single pearl halves to card base.  Add a strip of decorative paper to the inside of card on the right edges.

Ephesians 1:16-21
16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

For My Friend Gatefold

 Good morning crafty friends!

Material List HERE

 Card size:  4 3/4” X 6 3/4"

Start with white cardstock measuring 6 3/4" X 8 1/4", score at 1 3/4" and again at 6 1/2".  Fold both scores in toward center to make a gatefold.  Cut lavender decorative paper with roses 5 1/8” X 6 1/2" then die cut it with the gatefold Classic Companion die (make sure die is centered on paper).  You will now have the front 2 “gate” pieces.  Cut another piece of lavender decorative paper with roses for the inside of card measuring 4 5/8” X 6 1/2".  Glue the inside panel on, centering then glue the 2 outside gate panels on making sure they meet in the center of card, (this should give about 1/8” border of white).

Stamp Rose Frame and Rose Border X 2 using black ink then color (Copic Markers used here). Glue the frame inside of card and the 2 borders on each gate flap about 1/2” up from the bottom of decorative paper.  Add white acrylic paint dots (like Baby’s Breath) around borders and inside on and extending from stamped Baby’s Breath.

Stamp Classic Roses on Deluxe Flower Shaping Paper using Deep Purple then sponge with Majestic Violet (2 largest roses not used on this card). Stamp the leaves on the same paper using Fern Green then sponge with Leaf Green.  Die cut all and shape in the 3D Mold.  Finish shaping roses and rose buds using the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit.  Use hot glue to put them together (except buds as they are very small, and this would likely burn your fingers). Punch very small green flowers with a pointy type flower punch to make the bud sepals then glue them onto the bottoms of the buds.

Glue the leaves and flowers onto each side of the gate at the top.  Glitter flowers if desired and card if desired.

Make a Bellyband: Cut white cardstock 1 1/4" X 11” then score at 3 3/8" and 8 3/8" leaving about 4 7/8” open in the center for width of card plus a bit of wiggle room. Cut a piece of lavender decorative paper 1” X 11” then glue onto white after scoring the same as the white cardstock.  Glue the band together making sure card will easily fit inside.  The seam line is the top, cover the seam line with a rose, leaves and a tag with ribbon.  Stamp the tag (before gluing to band) with desired sentiment using Deep Purple.

Slip the band onto card from the bottom to keep the card closed.
