DRS Everyday Like Christmas!

Good morning!!
This card was done for a color challenge (See the color palette below).

I've used the new DRS new release 1024F Potted Berry Tree, Good Friends sentiment and also 487L Season's Greetings.
I admit, these are not the typical Christmas colors but hey, every year it seems they come out with new colors for Christmas so,why not!
I also used double stitch dies from ODBD to do all the mats and framing.
The upper corners have blue Liquid Pearls added to it and I've added paper Candy Dots to the corners.
That's about it!

DRS Challenge #252 Nature's Bounty!

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge at DRS Designs.
Use any image, any die cut, any punch, technique..but it needs to have a Harvest, Thanksgiving, or Fall theme.

I also used and embossing folder by Darice, acorn die by Spellbinder, rectangle and oval dies by ODBD and foam tape.
I colored mt image with Copic Markers and die cut it with a stitched oval and then made two oval mats to frame.  I cut the frame and popped it up over the wonderful fall embossing on the white background. The image and mats are also popped up.  I added the acorns and leaves to the corners and stamped then divided my sentiment and glue it in place.

DRS Challenge #251 Hot Trend-Trash To Treasure

Good morning!
Recycling today!!
Use any image, any technique, any die cut.. but be sure to include or use something you'd normally throw away..think acetate packaging, ribbons, flowers, papers, magazines, etc..

I started this card with a piece of yellow card stock and found a piece of shipping bag, cut one side off and used the inside to paint and smack onto the card stock then painted it again with lighter colors and smacked it again (so, first I used trash to paint my background paper) I then found an acetate package that held clear acrylic snowflakes so it had a built in "box" shape to it.  I cut away everything except a bit around the "box" (to put glue on) and used it as a shaker container for my card.  It works perfectly.  I filled it with beads and acrylic leaves.  I stamped the DRS 1017H Wheat Give Thanks on white then sponged Tea Stain and Amber on it, covered the back of my box and glued it in place.  I wrapped brown ribbon around my background piece and then I glued the entire background and box to a brown card, added a bow, some die cut wheat, and a button with floss.

To enter, show us your card  by linking it HERE & please be sure to link back to DRS. The deadline for this challenge is Wednesday, November 9, at 6:30 pm ET and please link new creations only (no back dated or duplicate entries). Be sure to let us know what you re-purposed. We are now limiting the number of entries to 3 per personChallenge entries don't have to use DRS Designs stamps, but if you use them on your challenge card, you'll get an extra entry into the prize drawing.

DRS Challenge #250 What's Behind The Mask?

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge at DRS Designs-Masking.
Use any image, any die cut, any punch..but make sure to use some masking or reverse masking.
I made a mask of the cabin and my front branch and after stamping them, covered them with the mask and stamped the background.  I made a mask for the moon with a circle punch and post-it, I then masked the ground (I kept the other mask on as well) and sponged color in the sky with Distress inks. I removed the moon mask and used the post-it with the moon hole and put it over the moon (so ONLY the moon would show) and sponged a bit of yellow for the moon.
I removed all the mask and stamped my sign in the foreground then colored everything, splattered with white paint and added glitter to the ground and trees.
I die cut Christmas from a medium blue and glued it to the front corner.
That's it!
I hope you will join in the challenge!!

DRS Challenge #248 National Navy Day!

Good morning!

This week's challenge celebrates the birthday of the US Navy...
Nat'l Navy Day!

(use any image, die cut, punch, technique, but in honor of the Navy, either use a nautical image and/or the color Navy! Think anchors, ships, water, flags, etc..)

Anchors Aweigh, my boys

Letter die cuts-ODBD, Rope border-Elizabeth Craft Designs
I sort of mixed and matched the USA Thanks to Our Brave sentiment to make this card.
I have a letter set that is just perfect for cards and that is how I made the NAVY to go with US.  The anchor is just perfect for the Navy as well!
I colored it with Copic Markers (as well as the US) and made my rope red to go along with the red rope from my rope die.
To use just part of the sentiment stamp at a time I cover what I don't what to stamp with tape, ink the stamp up then remove the tape.  After stamping I clean the stamp, dry and tape the other part I do NOT want to use and repeat.  Using a stamp aligner will cut down on booboos in this area.  I used removable tape on the letters after placing them evenly on a ruler, applied glue then set them down on the paper and removed the tape.

DRS Challenge #247 Stamp Your Own Background

Good morning!

This week's challenge is fun & easy..
Stamp Your Own Background!

(use any image, any technique..but make sure to stamp a background..

This is my background for the fab fall card this week.
I stamped my leaves first (584D Open Leaf) and then masked them to stamp my plaid (613P Woven Plaid).  I added 4 colors of Tombow pen to my woven plaid.
I liked my background so much I didn't want to cover it!!  Ha!
Ok, so I decided I had to have a primary focus so I stamped, colored and fussy cut the pumpkin bouquet (684M Pumpkin Bouquet).
I die cut the frame with Double Stitched Rectangles from Our Daily Bread Designs. Then decided to add a sentiment...ya, cover up more background, ratz!
I used just the bottom of 150F Autumn Is Calling greeting and die cut it with an oval stitched die.  The die was a bit small so I did an out of the box technique on the G and the A.

So there's my stamped background, let's see yours!

DRS Designs Challenge #246-Autumn Wonders

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge-
This week's challenge has everything fall ...
Autumn Wonders!
(use any image, die cut, punch, technique, just make it about autumn..think leaves, pumpkins, Indian corn, scarecrows!)

Today I've used 791L Bountiful Basket, 422B Autumn Greetings and 036M Summers End Tree to make my Autumn Wonder card.
I also used I.O. apples and leaves dies, ODBD Double Stitched Rectangle dies, foam tape from 3M and twine.
I stamped, colored and cut out my basket, die cut a bunch of apples (a bunch comes on one die), leaves and die cut my frame.
I stamped my tree and greeting on a white 5 1/2 X 4 1/4 panel then sponged in some color for the sky and ground and glued my apples and leaves on.  I wound  twine around one side of the frame then popped it up over my image panel then
I glued some more leaves on the frame and popped my basket up over the bottom corner of my frame.
I hope you will join us this week in the challenge.

DRS Designs Challenge #245-Trick or Treat

Good morning!
Time for a new DRS Designs challenge!
Anything Halloween tricks or treats.

DRS stamps used for this card: 524F Smell My Feet & 606D Candy Corn Border
I used stitched rectangle dies by ODBD, a bat button, floss, a star punch and shrink plastic for this card as well.
I cut my frame and then used a stamp aligner and some post-its for masking to stamp my Candy Corn around the frame.  I also stamped the Candy corn border twice on shrink plastic, colored and punched 1/8" holes on the top then baked it in my toaster oven to make my charms for hanging (I also die cut some stars on shrink plastic for charms).
The frame is popped up with a layer of orange under the sentiment and a layer of green under that.  The base of my card is purple and I glued the punched star on in green, yellow, orange and black.
I hope you will join in the fun this week, you can find a link below and instruction for submitting your card.

DRS Challenge #243- By The Light of The Moon!

Good morning!
Time for a new DRS challenge.
This time, put a moon on it!

I masked the tiny witch out of the picture first and then stamped and colored my image, masking the house and moon to sponge the sky then reverse masking to sponge my moon.  I stamped, colored and cut out the sign and hand, die cut the fence and tombstone.  Before adding the die cuts and fussy cut itemed I sponged some white Distress on the foreground to make it a bit misty. I added some silver Rub-Ons on the fence and tombstone and added the white shine marks and the RIP with a white Painty Pen.  After adding my cut out items to the card I added some dirt colors to tie them into the grass better.
That's about it.

DRS Challenge #242- Hot Trends-Stamp Selfie

Good morning!!
What a fun challenge this is!!  Make a card featuring a "selfie"

`

For my sample I have a couple of zombies posing for their selfie.
I made my frame using a rectangle die and a square die (Spellbinders).
I stenciled some bricks in the background to finish off my scene.
My zombies are DRS new release stamps: 922H Zombie Gal
I also used the new release 969D Ghoul Times Greeting
These two should wear a little less make-up, huh? LOL!
I love these fun colors for Halloween so I used several layers to finish the card and to make it more colorful and fun!!  I also added some green Baker's twine and popped up a layer to add to it.
I think the person receiving this card will laugh out loud to think of zombies stopping for a selfie!
To see more selfie cards please visit the DRS blog site where they are all on display for today's challenge.

DRS Challenge #241- Monsters and Witches and Ghouls, Oh My!

Good morning!
Well for zombies, these are pretty cute!
Our challenge this week is to create a card using witches, Monsters or Ghouls.
Use any stamp, die cut or punch.
This card is using new release DRS stamps: 922H Zombie Gal and 975D Monster Hugs.
I borrowed this sketch for one of the recent Splitcoaststampers sketches.  It works well for this card.
I did the out of the box die cutting technique on this combo image and sentiment to allow for her foot to stick out.
I colored her skin green?? I'm really not up on zombies so that is just a guess at how someone from the walking dead might look.  I have given her some cute Halloween colors for clothing and colored the words to match!

DRS Challenge #240- Color!

God morning!
Time for a color challenge!

DRS Designs stamps: 452L Autumn Flower Spray

These are the colors for this challenge.

I stamped and cut out my Autumn flowers and popped them up over the scalloped oval die cut (Life Styles) along with my pail from I.O.
I was also doing a color blocking challenge so I did 3 of the colors in the background using the curved Spellbinders border die.
I added a sentiment with die cut words, "Miss You" (dies by Little B)
This was a fast and easy card to make!

DRS Challenge #239- Shake It!

Good morning!
Time to shake it up with this new challenge from DRS!

Instead of using a pre-made shaker case, I decided to make a free-form shaker.
I stamped my Sandcastle 090G and Sea Grass 128L and then used some cloud dies to
cut out my hole in the sand.
I colored my image and used torn paper towel and a sponge dauber with Sky Blue Brilliance ink to color the sky and make clouds,  I then covered the back with heavy acetate (from some die packaging) and then I used (in this case) some Fun Foam found, in the kids section of a general craft store, to make my "box".
I cut a small rectangle that would be just slightly larger than the free-form cut out from the Fun Foam and glued it to the acetate with heavy duty tacky glue to make sure it did not come apart.
Now that I had my shallow "box" I filled it with some 4 in 1 Seashells 473F that I colored and cut out and some sequins.   I added chunky glitter and even some chunky embossing to make a sand looking element as well. I then covered the entire back with card stock making sure I added a good glue line all the way around the box part to seal it.
I then added  my Umbrella 817G, which I colored in a bright beachy rainbow and fussy cut, and Hugs 4 in 1 Words 670D that I colored the sand color and die cut, with foam tape.
That's it!  I hope you will join in the fun!!  There is a prize every week!

DRS Challenge #238-Hot Trends, Sun Rays!

Good morning!
time for a new challenge at DRS Designs.

The challenge this week is to use sun rays on your card.
I have a bit of a tropical card going here and so I actually have sun rays and flower prints on every layer.  My blue is embossed with a flower embossing folder, the pink layer is stamped with 1076H Flower border, the yellow layer was stamped with 668H Medium Daisy Bloom, my next layer was done with a sun ray embossing folder and then rubbed with yellow ink.  My image (878L Flamingo Palm Tree Scene) has the sun rays extended into it from my embossed sun rays using a ruler and a yellow pen.  I then colored the run rays with a light yellow Copic marker.
I then made my sentiment using 094D Sending You Sunshine and die cutting it to fit then placed an enamel yellow dot at the left side (holding it in place??)  My bow is seam binding dyed to match.
I used a sketch found on SplitCoastStampers HERE.

I hope you will join us for this challenge.  You can find all the info, submit your entry and see all the designers cards HERE.

DRS Challenge #237 Naked Stamping

Good morning!

Naked Stamping?
Don't color anything..leave it naked..you can use colored ink, but don't color it!

DRS Designs stamps: 1071G To Have and To Hold, 026G Silhouette Bride and Groom, 201H Love is Patient, 631P Open Plaid, 1092H Dogwood Branch
I stamped the sentiment, Love is patient with VersaMark and embossed with gold on ivory stock then stamped and embossed the wedding couple on top of it.  The stripes (Open Plaid), flowers and the sentiment, To have and to hold, was done in the same fashion. All panels were die cut and then matted in gold metallic.  I fussy cut the sentiment and added it to the stripes.  Finally, I added a metallic gold double bow.
This was a very fast and easy card but still elegant for a wedding or anniversary.
Thank you so much for visiting today!

DRS Challenge #236 Color Inspiration

Good morning!
Time for a color challenge...yay!!

I did a Bendi Frame card for this serene beach scene; the base (5 3/8" X 4 1/4") has the lighthouse and boat stamped on it, line drawn for a horizon and shoreline drawn in then boat and lighthouse masked and sky sponged in with clouds (I used a torn paper towel and sponged blue, moved the paper towel up and over and sponged blue again and so on until my sky was done).
I then colored in my water, sand and scene using a bit of white paint to make shine spots on the water.  I used a palette knife and texture paste to make my waves then while the texture paste is still wet I added glitter to it.
I stamped my sentiment on another piece of white, die cut it into a circle and colored it yellow to be a sun in the sky...well, that was my intention.
I added a torn piece of tan paper on the base and added castle, shovels and bucket.
Now for the Bendi Frame part: I die cut the frame from a 5 1/2" X 4 1/4" piece of dark tan shimmer paper by picking a rectangle die the size I wanted my scene to be and then placed it in the center of my panel and there's my frame.  Now I added more torn tan pieces to the back of the frame (creating dimension) and added the chair and palm trees.  I threw the towel in with a tiny piece of stripe paper fringed at the bottom and glued to the arm of my chair. I also added coconuts using a hole punch and brown paper. The birds are glued to the base and one is popped up.
Now you can put your slightly larger frame onto your base.  Put foam tape on the two SIDES of your frame (none on top or bottom); starting with one side at a time, stick your frame to the base by matching up the edges on the sides, this will create your bend because your frame is 1/8" larger than your card base.
This idea came from Kittie Caracciolo at KittieKraft. She does the most wonderful scenes.
The chair, birds, castle and beach toys are dies from I.O. and the palm trees die is from Joy! Crafts.  The frame and circle stitched dies are from ODBD

DRS Challenge #235 Pets R Family Too!

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge from DRS Designs.
(use any image, die cut or punched shape, paper, technique, but make it pet or animal related

To enter, show us your card  by linking it at the DRS blog site HERE. The deadline for this challenge is Wednesday, July 20, at 6:30 pm ET and please link new creations only (no back dated or duplicate entires)We are now limiting the number of entries to 3 per personChallenge entries don't have to use DRS Designs stamps, but if you use them on your challenge card, you'll get an extra entry into the prize drawing.
From all of the entries received, one lucky winner will be chosen to receive a 20% off coupon to the DRS Designs store!

I happen to have pet type ribbon which I've used here and a puch with a paw print and one for the hearts.  My dies are from ODBD.  I used the reverse "Out of the Box" technique for my oval. The background is sponged with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  I used Copic E50, E53, E33 for the coloring on the Wags the Dog 1117F and Dog Bone 080A.  The Dog Paw Background 699H inside the oval was stamped with Desert Sand Memento.
I punched hearts and the paw print out of a dark brown (not black even though it looks that way).
The dog frame is popped up over the inside sentiment with foam tape from 3M company.
Thanks for visiting today and I hope you will join in the challenge.

DRS Challenge #234 Hot Trends-Creative Piercing!

Good morning!
It's time for a new challenge!

(use piercing in a creative way..outline an image, pierce a butterfly trail, do a pattern in the corners, add some swirls or lines..you get the idea).

I found a die that is for doing sunrays (ODBD) and I used it as a guide to make my holes with a paper piercer. I also pierced around the sun.  I formed my sun using the reverse masking technique; I used a 1" circle punch to make my mask from a post-it and then placed it on my horizon and used another post-it on the horizon to keep the color out of the water and then sponged on the yellow ink.
I then used the circle part of the mask and covered my sun to make my sky (I also had to use a mask for my sailboat to keep it clean).
I used dies (Spellbinders borders and ODBD circles) that have piercing on them as well so that they would go with my pierced sky.

To see more inspiration for piercing and to join in the challenge (prize every week), please visit the DRS blog site HERE.
