DRS Designs Challenge #207 Any 2015 Challenge

Good morning!
Today is my anniversary!  Yes, we know, probably not the best.  We usually never go out for our anniversary because there are lots of crazies out on the road on New Year's Eve, but that seemed like a fantastic day to us 33 years ago!
I also used thin gold decorative tape (Washi), stitched dies, gold and silver embossing powder and gold and silver mirror paper.  I even did both gold and silver embossing on the Happy New Year stamp; the stars are mostly silver and then the rest is mostly gold.
This card was fast and easy yet has an elegant look for a beautiful New Year's card to someone special.  I really LOVE the new snowflake design and this new Happy New Year in a round design is tons of fun!  It will also fit on the large size of round tags (with the metal rims) that you can buy at the office supply.
Happy New Year everyone!! I hope this year will find you stamping happily more than ever!!

ODBDSLC268-Anything Goes With ODBD

Good morning and welcome to the Our Daily Bread Designs
new challenge, "Anything Goes With ODBD"

My great niece, Bailey, is a rodeo girl.  She competed in High School Rodeo and in Reginal Rodeos and even competed in Las Vegas!  She did just about everything , all the events.  I have some great photos of her "cutting" cows (if you haven't seen that you are missing a great dance between cow and horse).  She ended up being a roper, that was her favorite.    She was the header and her partner would rope the feet.
This card is for her because although she is a cowgirl, she is EVERYTHING feminine and even does some modeling.

ODBD stamps used: Saddle Up
This is a photo of one of my friends horses.  I actually found it AFTER I colored.
I started by stamping the horses and die cutting them before coloring.  Because I've had horses myself, I colored them in familiar to me colors. I Matted with brown stock cut with a circle die then stamped the sentiment and matted in a similar manner.  I die cut both the pink dot and the pink and brown stripe with the Flourished Star Pattern outer die (rectangle with stitching) and then cut my brown and pink stripe with the Leafy Edged Border and glued them together.  I attached my ribbon at the bottom and slid a pearl buckel on then attached the other side (under the fringe) then matted the layers with brown.  I used glue to attach my leather fringe and when dry, I attached the pearls which are stuck together in a line already.  I attached these layers to a white folded card base and then foam taped my image and sentiment to the card so they are popped up.

Proverbs 21:31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.
How many times do we go out and try with our OWN might or extensions of our OWN might, to win the battles of life?  If you are like me, all the time!  But God is our source, our protection, our shield and God is the one who wins our battles for us.  He ask us to rest in Him, to lean on Him, to call upon Him in our troubles.  Our lives are in the hands of the One who created us, who hold all things together, do we think that He can not handle ANYTHING that comes along.
Remember, He is the one who created every cell, every adom, every universe, planet, star, moon, every flower, tree, rock...I think He can handle our problems.
He can handle our sickness and disease, our problems at work or with a spouse or kids.  There is nothing that He does not know about, just go to Him in prayer and ask Him, He is waiting for you!

DRS Challenge #206 'Tis The Season

Merry Christmas Eve!!
Today's challenge is to make a card for winter, Christmas or New Years.

I couldn't pass up another chance to do a Christmas card especially since it is Christmas Eve!
I also used a center step die from Cheery Lynn, glitter, Liquid Pearls and Stickles.
I stamped all the pieces, colored and cut out to place them where I wanted to.
Admittedly, I did this step card so that I could use a bunch of the Village stamps because they are so very cute!!  Who doesn't like a Christmas Village??? These are more fun to collect then the ceramic pieces and they don't take up as much room either!!
To see more inspiration please visit the DRS Blog site HERE. You can also submit your own card creation for a chance to win a prize from DRS.
Thanks for visiting and Merry Christmas!

ODBDSLC267-Christmas Inspiration

Good morning!

ODBD stamps used: Living Water, Poinsettia Wreath
ODBD dies used: Bird Cage and Banners, Lovely Leaves, Fancy Foliage, Gilded Gate, Mini Tags, Windowsill Candles, Christmas Candles
First I made myself a center step card using a Fiskars type cutter where you can start and stop at a certain measurement and then scored and folded my card.  I made the trees on the sides by first cutting some tree shapes from plastic (like die packaging) and then die cutting a bunch of branches from Lovely Leaves and Fancy Foliage to fill in the tree shape.  I did the same thing for the smaller trees on the first step in the center.  I made the wreath on the fence from a bunch of the tiny holly leaves that come with the Lovely Leaves and Christmas Candles and the bow from Christmas Candles.  The berries are made from Liquid Pearls.  The other fence decor is from Fancy Foliage and the bows from Windowsill Candles. I used the birds from Bird Cage and Banners.  The sentiment is stamped on a Mini Tag.  My image is from the new Living Waters stamp set, isn't it beautiful?  I've made it a late fall early winter scene.  I decided to made a curved top the the image layer with a Spellbinder oval die. The snow at the bottom of my image panel is layers of torn white paper and glitter.

Every snow flake is unique as is every human.  God created us all as individuals, unique in every way.  It is amazing how many worlds God has made and yet He chose this one to set His love upon and to create man who would be His delight; His, to have a relationship with.   God wanted us to love Him but gave us the choice.  The God of all creation loves us!  John 3:16 says that God so LOVED the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life.  Romans 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
This is for me, for you, for all of humanity.
Christmas is the time we celebrate the birth of Christ, the one who came to save us, God's only Son.  We celebrate with evergreens (to symbolize everlasting life) and gifts (like those given by the wise men and representing the greatest gift that God gave to us).   We celebrate with lights (Jesus is the light of the world) and evergreen trees.  Let us not forget that Jesus is the reason for Christmas. Let us celebrate Him!

Deck The Halls Hop

Good morning and welcome to this special Deck The Halls Blog Hop
We've crafted some home decor/Ornaments for the holidays.
Merry Christmas!!
I also used some jewelry findings to add to this pretty Gold and Silver ornament.
each ornament has 6 sections and I've used a good paper glue to hold it together, I don't want it falling apart on the tree!!  I scored each section to get a good fold so that the sections would adhere properly.  I used silver and gold mirror papers for this ornament.

This ornament has 6 sections as well.  It has some bugle beads at the bottom in silver and gold and some Shaved Ice in the centers.  This ornament has a metallic silver bow at the top.

Last but not least, I made this silver ornament with silver mirror paper and silver glitter paper and a nice silver metallic bow.

Today, members of the Bread Basket at ODBD, has lots of fun and inspiration to share with you!!  Are you preparing for Christmas or just enjoy everything Christmas, then this is for you!! So grab a cup of tea or coffee and relax and enjoy the inspiration!! DRS Challenge #205 Color

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge.  This week it's all about color.

I decided to make a window looking out at a beautiful snowy scene but indoors we have to have the window decorated right?  So what is better than candles in the window and some greenery with ornaments above the window.   The walls are a blue stained wood (because they live in a cabin in the woods of course!). Christmas is just around the corner and everything is prepared, well in the house on the card anyway!!!

ODBDSLC266-Sketch Challenge

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs.
This week we have a cool sketch.

ODBD stamps used: Poinsettia Wreath
ODBD dies used: Double Stitch Circles, Peaceful Poinsettias, Mini Tags
I started with stamping the wreath and coloring with Copic Markers then die cutting with the Double Stitch Circles and die cut another set of circles for the framing then sponged on some distress ink.  I then stamped the sentiment on a Mini Tag and tied a red ribbon in the hole of the tag. I die cut the small poinsettia twice for each flower, sponged some gold on the petals and formed them with a foam pad and stylish type tool. I squeezed some glue into the middle and added some gold Prills.  I added the poinsettia on top of the poinsettias that are part of the wreath image.
For the background I added ink to my embossing folder (poinsettia folder) and then ran it through my Big Shot.
I added ribbon, decorative paper and acrylic red baubles for the rest of the sketch elements.

When I see a Christmas wreath it reminds me of the crown of thorns.  Christmas is all about Jesus and Jesus was born to save us from our sins which means, He was born to die.  We don't like to think about the baby Jesus coming for that purpose but God loves us so much He can't bare to lose us to death forever without Him.  He "purchased" us back with the sacrifice of His only son Jesus.
That crown of thorns was placed upon His head as a cruel  joke by the Roman soldiers but Jesus accepted it willingly.  He could have called down a legion of angels to protect Him but He suffered the crown of thorns, beatings and even the cross for all of us because He loves us so much.

DRS Challenge #204 Silver and Gold

Good morning!
Time for a new challenge at DRS.  This week just use gold or silver (or in this case, gold AND silver). I used mirror stock for the die cuts.  The embossing is done with detail silver (snowflakes) and detail gold (sentiment).
I also used Sue Wilson dies, Sizzix and Spellbinders dies. I used gold Micro beads for flower centers.
This card was very simple, just a matter of die cutting and embossing, that's it!

With all that is going on in the world it is hard to find peace in your heart but God is still on His throne, He is not surprised by all this.  He does have a plan and if you believe in His word you know that He wins in the end.  If you believe in Him and have Jesus as your savior you can have peace because you are in His hands and He has a plan for your life.

Jeremiah 29:1111 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

ODBDSLC265-Color Challenge

Good morning!

ODBD stamps used: Warm Wishes
ODBD papers: Shabby Rose Collection
I started by stamping the outdoor snowman scene first, coloring, glittering and cutting to size.  Next I cut out my window and popped it up over my snowman scene.  I then die cut the candles and all the
greenery and flowers for the top and bottom of my window.
I created my wall with ODBD paper and white paper embossed and inked.  I used the double stitch rectangles for the wall pieces as well as the chair railing.  I then placed my window over my wall and decorated with curtains (lace) and the candles and greenery.  Last was making my banner for above the window.  I used the Warm Wishes sentiment and slightly curved it on my acrylic block.  I stamped in black then die cut using the banner from Bird Cage and Banners.
The Candles come in two sizes, one is this small window decoration and the other is more of a full card size.  I love them both!  I used the flowers from the Christmas Candles set (larger size).

The scripture that I think of today is from Isaiah,  Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.
When it snows before there is any movement by people or animals, the snow is so white, it is so pure...God says that is the way He makes our hearts, our lives when He forgives us of our sins...a fresh start.  We have that through His son Jesus Christ.  John 14:6   Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

DRS Challenge #203 Hot Trends-Tags

Good morning!
Today I decided to add my tag to my card/project.
I utilized a die cut from Memory box and made my fussy cut Christmas Village pieces part of it.
Featured here is the new Custom Christmas Village Custom Name Sign...Yes, you can have YOUR own name and short message made for your own family!!  So fun!
I also used the Christmas Village Cabin 212G, and Christmas Village Lamp Post 226B.  I colored the pieces and fussy cut them then added them to my oval tag.  To help blend them to the die cut, I added Liquid Pearls-white and then glittered with a chunky type (not ultra fine like normal) loose glitter that you can find at any craft store for kids projects...yes, super cheap glitter!  My card base background is a plaid that I made with the Woven Plaid 613P stamp.  I was trying for the Tartan plaid in red, green, yellow and black.  I was able to achieve this plaid with the Woven set you can buy separated (so that each stripe is separate for easy color mixing, I think you have to request it to be separated or you can buy it and cut it apart yourself).  The other die cuts I used for this card come from Cheery Lynn Designs (snowflakes), Sue Wilson (tree behind far left light post) and Elizabeth Craft Designs (Merry Christmas).
It has been so fun this year creating Christmas cards with all the new designs and village pieces from DRS Designs!!  It really helps set the mood for Christmas!
You can find all the designer's card samples HERE where you can also link your own TAG creation to be in the running for a prize from DRS Designs.  All the details about this challenge can be found on their Blog site.
Have a wonderful week and keep on stamping!  Thanks for visiting today!
