DRS Challenge 159 So Shapely!

Good morning everyone!
Happy Thursday!  Are you ready for a new challenge?
Today's challenge is to use at least two different shapes on your card.  They can be punched, die cut, stamped...you get the picture.  My shapes today are hearts, circles, diamonds and rectangles.  Some are stamped some embossed and others die cut.

This is an easel card.  I find the easel cards are wonderful for showing an nice image as well as a larger sentiment.   I used the argyle pattern (diamonds) on the coral color heat and put pearls on each bold crossing,  I stamped the I Love You! in black right over the scattered hearts. My border die from Spellbinders also has diamonds as well as the embossing folder I used from Cuttlebug.
Thanks for stopping by today and comments are most welcome!

ODBDSLC224 Anything Goes!

Good Tuesday morning to you all!
This week's challenge is anything goes!
That totally cool, we can use any ODBD stamps and any subject we choose.
Well, it is getting too close to Valentine's "month" to do anything but hearts so...

ODBD stamps used: All Occasion Sentiments, Bless Your Heart
ODBD dies used: Mini Tags, Flourished Star Pattern, Ornate Hearts, Spendorous Stars
ODBD Papers used: Blushing Rose Collection
I used the Flourish Star Pattern die to "emboss" the kraft panel.  This is done by placing the die under the paper and using only the embossing plate and rubber over it instead of the cutting plate.  I also sut out some of the little stars from Splendorous Stars in ivory to add the the background.  I used 4 pieces from the Ornate Hearts die set to cut the hearts.  And then of course the mini tages to add an I love you!
Valentine's is such a sweet time of the year and it always reminds me of how we should love one another.  Jesus said time and again that the greatest commandments was to love God and to love people.  He told us to love one another that others might see Him in us and that we belong to Him.  There is no better one to belong to and to be in His care and His loving arms.  He loves us with and everlasting love.  A love beyond compare.  Let us love each other to help the world know what wonderful love Jesus has for them too!

DRS Challenge 158 Lovely Hearts

Good Thursday morning to you all!
Today starts a new challenge...Lovely Hearts...translation, use hearts and/or love on your card.
Today I used both.

I used heart dies from Spellbinders and a heart border punch from Martha Stewart.  The stamps are all DRS and are stamped with VersaMark then heat embossed with gold powder. I stamped "Fill up on Love" 240C, on the nested hearts and the love meter 261D, between the border hearts.  The gold lines below the meter are just thin strips of gold paper.  The background white is embossed with a heart folder.  I made this an easel card because the inside words really need to be displayed as well,  Valentine's full of love greeting 273F The sentiment is popped up to give the top a place to tuck  and stand.  The other small hearts are punched from a corner punch.
To make an easel card like this (it folds to 4 1/4 X 5 1/2), start with an 11 X 4 1/4 piece of cardstock and score at 5 1/2 then again at 8 1/4.  Cut another piece of matching cardstock 4 1/4 X 5 1/2.  Glue the top of the 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 piece to the top of the 2 3/4 remaining on the scored piece. Now decorate top and inside.  Remember to pop something up inside so that you top has something to rest against to stay open.
Thanks for visiting!
Comments welcome!!

ODBDSLC223 Inspiration Challenge

Good morning!
Today we start a new challenge with inspiration taken from the inspiration photo below my sample.
Whatever stirs you from this photo, make a card to show it.

ODBD stamps used: Just a Note
ODBD dies used: Fancy Foliage
ODBD paper used: Blushing Rose Collection

I also used some Prima roses, ribbon, tulle, Spellbinders border dies and Silver Leaf pen.  I got the silver from the silver candlesticks, the roses from the flower arrangements and candles and the curtains.  Of course the piano and scripture comes from the piano and music on the piano.
To make my piano keys, I just cut the border again in black, used my scissors to cut up and then snipped away the "keys" every third one.  It is still all in one piece but the part that holds the keys together is glued under the top white border piece.  Much simpler than it looks!!! The white keys are just an illusion since there was no cutting or even line drawing.

PS. 138:1-2, 139:13-16
I will praise You with my whole heart; before the gods I will sing praises to You.  I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.  My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.  Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.  And in Your book they were all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.
I have always loved Psalms 139 and it seem especially appropriate now being that Sunday was Sanctity of Life Sunday.  What better praise to sing to the Lord than that of giving life and sustaining life with every breath we breathe. We can sing to God for everything we have or will ever have; it all comes from His hand.
Even Mary, when she was pregnant with a child without being married (yes, WE know she had not been with a man and it was the Holy Spirit of God, but the people of that day DID NOT KNOW that!).  But from her mouth comes this song, "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; for behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed, for He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name.  And His mercy is on those who fear Him...."  It goes on but you see my point.
So today, as you go about your day, think about what God has done for you and sing praises to Him.

DRS Challenge 157- Color

Good morning to you all!!
Getting close to Valentines Day so lets get those Valentines rolling!
The colors are perfect  for Valentines.
I used the Fly Away hearts and Flowers 359P, Dogwood Branch 1092H, and Valentine greeting 996D.  I had fun coloring  all these flowers and hearts with Copic Markers! I used a Spellbinder border for the curved edge and an embossing folder for the bottom coral/pink part then used little pearls on all the cross sections. My ribbon is dyed to match, the bow is a triple loop. My colors look a little more peachy in this photo but in real life they match quite well to the inspiration colors.

I hope you will join us for this challenge.  There is a prize given each week.

ODBDSLC222 Color Challenge

Good morning!
Our challenge this week is to pick at least 3 colors from the color inspiration below.  I chose 3 of the purples and Vanilla.

ODBD stamps used: Victoria and Love Scriptures
ODBD dies used: Flourished Star Pattern, Mini Tags, Ornate Hearts and Gilded Gate

I used the outside frame of the Flourished Star Pattern die first, I just love the piercing on the edge.  I then used another piece of white and embossed with a folder. I used the Ornate Hearts die set to cut three of the larger hearts and embossed them as well around the edges. I stamped the tag and attached the bottom to the inside bottom of the heart so that it will pull up but won't come all the way out.  I used the Mini Tags as a topper for the tag pull.  I die cut the Gilded Gate and stenciled with purple.  When I glued the heart down to the card I left the top open for the tag.  There are little pearls around the inside heart and on the cross sections of the embossing.
The Victoria dress is colored with Copic Markers and then fussy cut and foam taped to the top of the heart.

DRS-How Sweet It is!

Good morning everyone!!
Here is a very SWEET Valentine's card to try!

I also used dies by Spellbinders, Wide sheer pink ribbon a pop up die from Elizabeth Craft Designs a heart punch and heart ribbon.
The photo here shows an inset with the card closed (right side), it is not two different cards.
I actually had it in my mind to put sprinkles on the cupcake but I forgot!!! It would look cute with glaze on the cherry too, don't you think?  My plaid background is done with the cut apart Woven Plaid stamp and has a few extra pen lines in pink and green.
Hope you like this "Sweet" challenge and make a sweet card of your own.  Don't forget, there are weekly prizes!  To enter or to see the other designers samples, click HERE.

ODBDSLC221 Sketch

Happy New Year everyone!
Here is my first card for Our Daily Bread Design in 2015
It is a sketch card.

ODBD stamps used: Just a Note
ODBD dies used: Doily, Faithful Fish Pattern, Circle Ornaments
I stamped my image and colored then cut it out with a circle die, using the "out of the box" technique so as not to cut off part of the image. I also formed the back side of the music symbol with a stylist to give it more dimension.  I emboss/die cut the Faithful Fish background from white and also blue so that I could alternate to follow the sketch.  They each have yellow borders as well.  I then cut the Doily die cut using the same yellow and the outer Doily using white.  I glued the circles together then cut off one side as shown in the sketch.  My ribbon is some yellow tulle. Finally, I've added some pearls to the Doily and 3 to one side of the horizontal strip.

Ah music, the Lord God loves music.  Besides telling us all through Psalms to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, He tell us through His entire word. But did you also know that God had the musicians go with His armies, playing as they marched? Yes, they would lead armies into battle playing instruments to God.
There is something very special about music.  Music speaks to the spirit, music communicates great emotion, music says I love you to God when you sing praises to Him.  Music makes us happy too.  "It is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful". Ps.147:1
"Speaking to each other in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord".  Eph. 5:19

DRS-Hot Trends-Stencils

 Good morning all!!
Well it is finally cold outside so here is Frosty to go with my stenciled background, which is this week's challenge...stencils!!

DRS stamps:  242H Medium Snowman (New Release) and 611D Warm Wishes
I used a star stencil from Memory Box with water color sprays on water color paper. I then sprayed over the entire background with the blue colors and some pearl shimmer sprays.  I added some punched stars on the Frosty image and one on the sentiment.
Please join us for this really fun and easy challenge.  If you don't have any stencils, make one yourself using a die or scissors to cut out designs. You can then sponge color on or stamp through the opening or spray color on as I have done here.  For more inspiration from our other designers and/or to join in the challenge, click HERE.
