Christmas Cardinal Z Fold Card

Good morning!
I have a fun project today that uses Heartfelt Creation's paper
borders as well as the amazing paper panels.
I've also used the Cascading Petals to make some realistic
pine cones.

I painted my cardinals in a male and female version here.

HC PRODUCTS USED

Other Products:
Tea Dye Distress Ink, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Copic Markers: E31, E33, E35, Y11, Y23, R23, R24, R29, YG61, YG63
Instructions:
Card Size: 5 X 6 1/2".  Cut white cardstock 6 1/2 X 10” then score at 2 1/2 and 5”.  Fold in a “Z” style.  Cut red decorative paper to fit each panel leaving a small border around each panel, cut another from the green gingham for each panel a bit smaller than the red.  Glue paper to panels then cut decorative paper borders for each panel top and bottom and glue in place.

Cut 2 red Lacy Diamonds, cut 1 white eyelet diamond to fit inside Lacy Diamond.  Cut 1 decorative paper diamond to fit inside eyelet diamond and glue layers together.  For the inside place the other red Lacy diamond right behind the front Lacy Diamond when card is closed.  Use the Diamond die to cut a sentiment from the decorative paper or cut out sentiment with rectangle die and glue on top of decorative paper diamond.

Stamp 2 medium pinecones, 1 cardinal set and multiple blossoms from Wisteria Petals using black ink, die cut and color images with Copics or chosen coloring method, sponge Wisteria Petals with Distress Inks. Use Dries White and glitter on snowy parts of the Cardinal image.  Glue Cardinals to bottom portion of front Diamond sets.  Glue 1 medium pinecone to the top of Diamonds on front and 1 on the top of Diamonds inside

Stamp Merry Christmas using red and cut out with the long eyelet die in Tickets and Tags (shorted).

Making 3D pinecones:  Hand cut 2 oval type pieces of brown paper about 1 1/2" long to use as a base to glue petals on to.  Cut petals into 2 parts (1 petal and 2 petals). Start at the bottom with 1 petal and then work up getting wider the further up you go then tapering back down to 2 or 3 petals at the top (Fill in where needed with single petals).  Glue the two 3D pinecones to the top of front on either side of the medium pinecone. Glitter pinecones and randomly all over card base.

My next card  uses the kraft and white color combo
that looks great with the cardinals and pine cones.

Ivory Cardstock, white cardstock, Snow Pen, Tea Dye and Broken China Distress Inks, red ribbon, Foam Tape, Copic Markers: E33, E35, E39, YG61, YG63, G99, R43, R24, R29, R59.

For more ideas on creating with the Decorative Royale Square & Circle Dies, watch the tutorial at https://youtu.be/tqmtn_TiVVw.
Instructions:
Card size: 6 X 6”.  Start with 12 X 6 ivory cardstock, score at 6” then fold.  Cut a kraft Courtyard Elegance using the smaller square die for the outside edge.  Use circle dies to make a center circle out of Courtyard Elegance die cut and a frame out of ivory cardstock for the circle “hole”.  Cut a piece of light green Snowy Pines decorative paper to fit backside of the kraft die cut then cut the same circle from the center (save the circle).  Cut the circle out of the card base front in the center, draw it first to make sure it is in the right spot using the kraft/decorative paper die cut as a guide.   Glue the die cut to the front of card then glue the ivory frame over edge of opening.

Stamp Cardinals, at least 8 small pine cones, 4 each of the 2 pine boughs using black, die cut then color with Copics listed above or similar.  Make a wreath using cut up pine boughs and the pine cones.  Insert ribbon bow towards bottom curling ribbon tails up the wreath, adhering ribbon as you go.  Glitter the entire front of card.  Use dries white or a Snow Pen on the pine cones, glitter then heat to puff or set.

Cut another Courtyard Elegance out of ivory this time.  Glue the light green decorative paper to the center after sponging edges with blue ink.  Glue a piece of light green decorative paper to fit inside of card.  Glue the ivory Courtyard Elegance to the green.  Cut 4 strips of kraft cardstock at 1/4" each X 6”.  Glue them down (bottom and top first then sides) to the outside edges like a log frame.  Add Snow Pen and glitter to the branches of the Cardinals then heat to puff.  Glue and pop the Cardinals to the center, add snowflakes around using Snow Pen, heat to puff. Add glitter to the whole center circle avoiding birds.

Stamp Merry Christmas on ivory using Vermillion.  Die cut with the Banner die (shortening).  Sponge the edges with Tea Dye.  Glue it at an angle to the inside circle toward the top.

Thanks for visiting today!
