DRS Challenge #180-Oh My Stars!

Good morning!

I stamped the happy Seal onto a piece of uncut rubber then stamped onto my paper to make a reverse image (I wanted him to look like he was gazing at the stars).
I masked him then stamped the beach scene (I did not ink up the sun as I wanted it to be night). I added a punched circle for the moon (cut in half) and I added some punched circles (from a hole punch) to the tree to make it a coconut tree.
I stamped the starry background and embossed in white then stamped the first part of the Beach Birthday sentiment in black. I colored the scene then sponged the sky with some Broken China and some Seedless Preserves Distress Ink.  I left the part by the moon very light and used Copics to add some lit clouds.  On the inside I stamped the rest of the sentiment on light blue then took a piece of tan and torn the edge to make my sand.
I stamped the shells, colored and cut out then placed them in my sand!
That's it!
Hope you are having a great week!!!  Here is where to see the rest of the designer samples and to join in the challenge...DRS.

ODBDSLC244-ANYTHING GOES WITH ODBD

Good morning!
Today starts the anything goes with ODBD stamps challenge.

ODBD paper used: Shabby Rose Collection
I stamped the deer scene in a gray on the scalloped oval before stamping the 23rd Psalm in black.  I love the scene of the deer close to the stream of water and it makes me think of the 23rd Psalm.
I then sponged the edges with a sage green and the gray (which are some of the colors in the Shabby Rose paper that I used today.
This is a Z fold card and has a tie to keep closed. I matched the Layered Lacey square under the oval with the square on the inside so that when the card is closed, you can not see the inside. I also used the Doily die top and bottom under the oval and square.  My roses on the bottom are pre-made.

North Coast Creations-June Release

Hello, good morning to everyone!!
Join us on our New Release Blog Hop, comment and possibly win a prize!

NCC stamps used: Floral Sentiments 8 (#NCC85)
This is in my opinion, in the Gentian family of wildflowers. They are usually bluish purple or purple, sometimes white and purple.
My bg is embossed and then I used the Star Flourish Pattern dies.  I colored with Copic Markers and sponged with Brilliance Inks with the die on.  I added some rhinestones to the sentiment and Stickles to the flower centers.

NCC stamps used: Floral Sentiments 7 (#NCC84)
Well, In my flower books this looks like one in the family of  Milkweed.  They are usually milky/creamy white or rosy white.  I Chose to do a rosy/peachy white for mine today.
The only thing a bit different about this card is that I made the blue frame pop up.  Everything else is pretty basic.  I colored with Copic Markers and sponged the sky and grass area with Brilliance Sky Blue and Lime Green with the die still on.  I added some Stickles to the centers of each flower and some pearls to each corner along with a pearl decorative accent to the bow.

Little House-ODBD

Here is another project the my husband wants to keep!
I made this for a fellow ODBD designer when she was featured stamper on Splitcoaststampers!
I used all Our Daily Bread Designs dies, paper and stamps for this double display fold card, which you can also find at our Daily Bread Designs.  I will give you the links here.
I also used the double display fold card.
I used the two sheets of wood/morning glory sheets of 6 X 6 paper to do all the middle section then used the brick work paper to do the bottom and solid cardstock for the eaves/roof. Tan for the under layer and white for the die cuts laid on top.  Pearls halves were used to embellish.  I made my windows with the cross section of the window die and with rectangle nesting dies.  I made the door with the same window die, cutting off the sides and top and making new sides and top with a rectangle die.  The umbrella was scored at the points and folded back then filled with foliage and pre-made flowers.  I stamped the morning glories, colored and cut out to embellish the two sides (I wanted the morning glories growing over part of the windows.  I also used a small left over piece to go over the door frame at the top (the other part of the morning glories are on the paper).  I stamped the sentiment and oval cut then glued to the window frame.  The gate is cut from white and glue to one of the folds. I cut three strips of tan cardstock (the eaves color) and made stairs (I used some Copic color for shading to make it look more like stairs).  The grass, butterflies and tiny flowers are punches.  I used some decorative piping for curtains and made the spray on top of the door with pre-made heather and a purple bow.
This little house was really fun to make and my hubby just loves it...he says it's not going anywhere!
Andy (my husband) is always ready to help with ideas and gives me his honest opinions on projects.  I have been DONE before and he will say, well, you could use a little.... Always good ideas and most of the time, if possible I try to do it.  BUT, as he knows nothing about stamping, sometimes he wants what isn't possible...If only I could get him to make all the things he thinks of!!!
I'll tell ya what though, when I come home from a scrapbooking event, he does all my journaling.  Yes that's right ladies, my hubby journals for me!!! Now, if I could just get him to write my blogs for me, I'd be set! Ha!
I hope you like this "card" as much as we do.  Have a great weekend!

DRS Challenge #179-Color Challenge

Good morning!

Color palette
DRS stamps used: 434G Anchor, 461G Lighthouse
These new nautical stamps are so cute!  I stamped the lighthouse and the anchor on pieces of scrap white. I colored the anchor with cool grays and a B02 blue and then cut is out and glued my cord under the cord on the anchor then I just set it aside and colored my lighthouse with grays and reds. I used some yellow for the light and gave it and the little house a blue roof.  I used a Die-namic stitched nesting die and did the out of the box cutting technique.  I ten cut a red mat with the next size up.  The little die cut boats are from Memory Box.  The rectangle stitched dies are also from Die-namics.  I made a double red frame with Spellbinders nesting A2 rectangle dies. I pieced everything together and glued the cord around the inside layer of red framing.   I wrapped the excess cord around the anchor.

ODBDSLC243-INSPIRATION CHALLENGE

Good morning!

The photo below is the inspiration for this week's challenge.
ODBD stamps used: Keep Climbing, Some Gave All, Good Man
ODBD dies used: Sunburst Background, Elegant Oval
My card today is an easel card.  I started with the new sunburst background die and embossing plate and a yellow panel of textured cardstock then I sponged on more color. I then stamped, colored and fussy cut the mountain with eagle soaring.  Whatever edge that was left I colored to match the background.  Next I stamped, colored and cut out the large patriotic eagle.  I colored in the stars since I wasn't going for the red, what and blue today.  Finally, I stamped the scripture from a Good Man set, die cut with the elegant oval and sponged the edges.  After everything was colored and cut out, I made the easel card and glued my main image to the top of the sunburst then glued that to the top of the card.  The inside is popped up so the it acts like a catch to keep the card in the open easel position.  I also added 3 decorative brads to help hold the card open.  When not displayed it folds to a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2, A2 card size.

Is. 40:31
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
28-29
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary.  His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.
God is our source, He is our shield and defense. He gives us strength.

Have  a great week,

DRS Challenge #178- Just Beachy

Good morning!
Today I'm giving you a peek at the new release at DRS.
the lighthouse, mermaid and shells are all part of the new release for June.  The sunrays (or in this case, light rays) are an embossing folder inked before embossing. I used 1114D Sand, Snow, Water lines where the mermaid comes up out of the water to take a look at what is making all the light...she is very curious! I needed a get well card so I used the 1097E Get Well Soon on the inside, popped up to be a catch to hold the card open.  The shells (part of the new release) are also popped up.
For the sea shore, I used some Liquid Applique (heat puffed slightly) and some Stickles to make a foamy look. I also added a few rocks to get the more rocky looking beaches we have in Northern California.  There is some Stickles also added to the water for shine marks (and to her tail).
I used a Spellbinder decorative die to make my card base and top (Decorative Labels 8 and Labels 8). I did the "out of the box" cutting technique for her tail. I used Copic Markers for coloring, R32, R14, Boo, BG11, BG32, BO1 BG34 YR000, YR00, R20, Y21, Y15, E30, E50 E31, E53.

ODBDSLC242-SKETCH CHALLENGE

Good morning!
We have a sketch challenge starting today!
I've turned mine sideways because I wanted to use this beautiful scripture for today!

ODBD stamps used: Good Man
ODBD dies used: Beautiful Borders, Fancy Foliage, Birds and Nest
ODBD paper used: Vintage Ephemera Collection

Who doesn't want to know that God has a plan for their future, a good plan. This scripture has always been a comfort to me through the years!  That is why I wanted to use it today.  This  stamped scripture is just right for this sketch panel if done vertically, so...
I used the Beautiful Border twice, one brown on top of black because it just "needed" that extra. I also used black for trimming on all the panels.  It gives a more finished look I think in this case.  The Vintage Ephemera paper panels were distressed with my handy dandy distressing tool from Ranger.
I added the larger leaves from the Birds and Nest set to the Fancy Foliage flourish.  I wanted the flourish to be more of a framing accent than a flourish under/with flowers.  The bigger leaves provided that extra for me.  The three black brads are added for embellishment as well as the four corner decorative brads.  I don't usually use brads for attaching anything so I cut off the prongs and hammered down the back to make it flatter.  No holes and better for mailing that way. Use a heavy duty glue to attach, or glue dots.  I find that glue dots eventually dry up and things tend to fall off, so glue is a better option in my opinion.
I hope you like this masculine card, just in time for Father's Day!!!  Please visit my design team sisters for more inspiration:

It IS comforting to know that you can put your life in God's hands and He will take care of you, provide for you, shield and defend you.  He wants you to live life fully blessed!
He loves you more than anyone ever could.  He sent His son, His one and only son to trade places with you, to pay the penalty for your sin so that YOU could live eternally with Him after this VERY short life is over.  All you have to do to receive eternal life is to accept this free gift. Romans 10:9 says "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Verse 10 "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Can you even imagine letting your own son (only child) die for someone else's wrong doing? No, our love for humanity is not so great as God's love. Who would not trust their life to a God who gave ALL for them! Yes, I trust Him.

DRS Challenge #177 Hot Trends-Over The Top

Good morning and welcome to a new challenge at DRS.
Today's challenge is to put your sentiment ove or partly over your image.
Well, My image is of butterflies and as you can see the sentiment in on top of them.
My background pink and purple was done with the crinkled wax paper technique.  You ball up the wax paper tightly in your hand then flatten it out and iron it onto some cardstock.  Then ink it with a brayer or sponges.  The wax acts like a resist but only where the wrinkles were.
I used a Spellbinder Bracket Border die on the image layer and on the pink layer then mounted to a white card.  I used nesting Die-Namic stitched square dies for the sentiment and mat and my bow is 1" satin ribbon.  The stamp was white heat embossed onto my background paper.
To see more designer samples, please click HERE. You will also find all the information about how to join in the challenge for the possibility of a prize from a random drawing each week.

ODBDSLC241-COLOR CHALLENGE

Good morning!
Today starts a new challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs!!!
Since this month is Father's Day month, ODBD has some new designs out that just shouts out DAD!
I've used the new release tools, pegboard and "man" sentiments.

Inside
It's a color challenge and the above photo is what you can choose from, use 3 or more colors in your design.
ODBD stamps used: Good Man
I started out by die cutting the tools, nuts, bolts, screws, nails, two Antique Labels and hooks with silver mat paper.  I rubbed them with some antiquing medium called Metallic Rub-Ons.  I then die cut the tools again with an orange color for the handles and brown and black for hammer and saw. Pieced them together and hung them on the pegboard I die cut from a brownish orange color.
For my base I used the Vintage Ephemera paper, distressed the edges and then used some embossing fluid and heavy embossing powder on the edges and in ward about 1/2" or so. I black embossed the sentiment and added the nuts and bolts  then mounted on top of the twine.
I distressed the dark brown panel and then glued them together and wrapped with twine. I added the screws and nails to the top of the twine. For the inside I black embossed the sentiment and added the nuts and bolts.  The piece of Ephemera background paper I cut off to make the card an A2 size, I placed inside along with my sentiment.

Our Father in heaven is the best example of a father that there is, isn't He.  He is always loving and kind and provides all that we need. He guides us and guards us and gives us life. We are protected in His hands, we can trust Him.  No one can take us out of His hands.  The world may hate us and even kill us but we are eternally His.  This earth is not our home, we are just passing through.  This life is an instant compared with eternity...think about that!
Sometimes we moan and complain about trivial things but Our Father gives us what we truly need, He loves us beyond measure and He so deserves to be loved in return.  I will love You oh Lord, I will praise Your name in the heavens. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable. The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy.  The Lord is good to all and His tender mercies are over all His works.  From the Psalms.
