Good morning!
This is my debut card for the Wilderness Retreat.
This collection is really special to me because I live in the Sierra Nevada National Forest
about 15 miles from Yosemite National Park.
We have a history of logging, lumber mills, Giant Sequoia (trees that have been
here and living for 2000-3000 years. The Sugar Pine trees that have pine cones 15-21" long.
We have the highest peaks in the lower 48 states (Alaska has one higher)
and there really is a thing called Alpine glow (what I tried to show on my mountains here).
We don't have wolves anymore but we have deer, raccoons, mallards (and lots of other ducks,
trout, bass, squirrels etc., etc. We are also know for gold and silver mines up in the mountains
and old, old log cabins.
We actually have a 27 1/2" Rainbow Trout on the wall that my son caught at age 12.
This is truly my happy place.
This is a shadow box card. I made my own shadow box this time, it is fairly large, total
card size is 8 X 11.
In the winter/spring we have a pond in the front that generally have ducks on it, nesting. A Mallard and his honey (the ducks on this card).
This is actually a shaped card too with the new Swirly Accent Spray Die

Instructions:
Card size: 8 X 11” . Use any scrap cardstock size 6 1/4 X 8” as a base to build the scene, it won’t be seen. Cut a piece of white cardstock 2 1/2 X 6 1/4" for the sky and blend sky colors with Copics. Start at the bottom with pinks, then yellow and orange back to pink then blue so that colors do not get muddy mixing blue with orange or yellow. These are “Alpine Glow” colors. Stamp mountains 4 times, die cut 2 whole and die cut the other 2 with just the lower mountains. Color these adding the Alpine Glow to one side or the other on the mountains and the rest in granite colors (the cool and warm grays). This is what the mountains look like in the evening up in the higher elevations (in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where I live). Glue 1 set of mountains onto sky (at about 1” down from top) then pop up the rest making 4 layers of mountains. Tear a piece of white 1” X 6 1/4" and color it the same green as grass for bottom mountains. Glue it over where the grass ends.
Stamp, die cut and color cabin with canoe trout stream, stump, wolf, ducks, cattails, flowers, extra rocks and trees, foreground with rocks and flowers, extra bottom duck, extra cabin with canoe, extra wolf. Die cut trees only on trout stream. Arrange cabin with canoe on the left with it’s shore line, add trees from trout stream to the middle then wolf scene on the right. Extend left side drawing in with a pencil. Extend right side by adding extra rocks, the stump, flowers and cattails. Pop the other cabin and canoe on top of the other. (Pop the other wolf on top of wolf in scene later after box is made, same with the extra tree). Die cut fish from the part of the stamped scene not used and also fussy cut the splash and rings in the water. Glue fish to stream on the right side leaving room for the ducks. Glue the splash as well then glue the ducks to the left side. Pop up second duck. Glue the foreground pieces to the bottom with some flowers and cattails. Add snow pen to the splashes and puff up slightly with a heat gun, Let dry.
While scene is drying, make a shadow box. Black cardstock cut 7 1/4 X 9”, score 1/4" and 1/2" on all 4 sides. Use a rotary cutter to cut the center of the cardstock 1/2" from score line all the way around (opening measures 5 1/2 X 7”). Cut off all 4 corners so that box can be folded and glued together. Fold the 1/4" and the 1/2" on all sides. Glue 3 sides together but leave the 4th side open to slide scene in. Before you slide it in, cut 2 pieces of foam sheet to fit between where mountain ended and bottom of scene so that the bottom of the scene stays up to the level of the box frame. Glue them in and then slide scene into box gluing bottom of box to bottom of scene base. Glue box frame down to foreground then pop up the wolf over other wolf, pop up extra tree on the left side of box frame.
Die cut 4 corners from Swirly Accents Spray out of black, Die cut 2 Adorn It out of black then sponge different colors of mousse to “age” the corners and decorative die cuts. Glue corners to box frame corners. Glue decorative Adorn It die cuts to bottom of box both sides even. Lay the card down onto a copper 8 1/2 X 11” cardstock and draw a line around both sides lightly. Use the Swirly Accents outer die to cut both sides of 2 pieces of cardstock (to make an openable card), Score the top of the top piece to make a tab to glue onto the bottom piece (both pieces have been die cut on the sides with the Swirly Accents Spray die), you will need to cut a little off the top of the back piece of cardstock to keep sides even. Cut off the bottom of both pieces as needed to match box bottom then glue scene “with wings” to the folded card.
Cut the sentiment from decorative paper, cut fish tail ends and curl then glue it to the bottom of box frame. Glitter the flowers, water and splashes. Add some glaze to the fish.
Thank you for visiting today!

Romans 8:38-39 New King James Version (NKJV)
38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Matt. 12:31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.
No one has too great a sin that he can not be forgiven. Whatever you have done, you can be cleansed and you can be God's. The weight of sin taken off you, think about it. Your life could go from complete darkness to blessed light. That is what happened to me. God reached down and brought me out of a deep, dark, mucky pit and set me on His high hill! He has so blessed my life ever since.
We still go through trials in life but He is right there with us helping us through. Like a lifesaver when we feel like we are drowning. When I think back to my life of self gratification I shiver at the thought of all I've done against God but He reminds me that He has forgiven every sin and remembers them no more! I am His!
